I feel safe with vircurex but the traffic isn't so high, but its good that you can trade all coins versus all coins, cryptsy and coinex only have btc/ltc vs all coins Which exchange site do you trust to deposit/trade larger volumes with it, like 10+ BTC ? I think the biggest risk is having the site get hacked and losing your deposit- I think the real question is which site has the best security.

If anything goes south I know I can have some sort of legal protection. Same can't be said for most foreign country exchanges. And even with some of them you'd need to somehow communicate with a lawyer over there and not sure if that would be worth your while unless you had 100 BTC.

Never keep any more then you have to trade on any online location (and I make sure I never keep more then 10% of my crypto portfolio online fullstop). They gained quite a bit of creditability when the LR deposit system was "hacked" last year. Unlike the current trends in Crypto Coin based business, they ate the entire loss and restored the users accounts. I have seen numbers between 20k - 40k USD in losses they covered. However, it is still good advice to keep coins you do not intend to trade in the near future in a personal wallet. |
