Title: About fuses and watts Post by: epicjim on January 03, 2014, 12:05:37 AM I live in UK and in old council flat. In UK most of the broadband and electrical systems are ancient. I don't know much about electrics and fuses so please advice me with following to not burn my house down.
MY first rig with: 750w 80 plus corsair gold psu 2 x R9 280x undervolted 1.087 Intel core 2 duo e4400 2.0ghz 4gbram. MSI p35 Platinum mb 4gb geil 800mhz ram and I am building other rig with AMD fx6300 3x R9 280x (gonna undervolt as well) 8gb corsair 1600mhz ram Asus extreme 4 970 motherboard Evga 1300V 80+ gold PSU I am going to plug the 2nd rig in different socket but is this overall setup can blow up my fuse and burn down my house? Looks like your total usage for both systems is around 1,900w (1.9kw). Your average electric kettle will use 2,000w (2kw), this is more than both these units together. Those cheap little fan heaters you buy from Tesco use 3,000w (3kw) when on full power. You can estimate the running cost by looking at your electric bill and find your kw/hour price. It's probably about £0.08 per kw/h So, 1,900w should cost you 1.9 * £0.08 per hour to run = 15.2 pennies per hour. This is very light usage. Ensure you have low amp fuses in your plugs (3amp) and there is good air circulation around your units. If you worry about them getting hot, take off some of the case covers to increase natural air flow and store them in a cold room (switch the radiator off). Do not put them in cupboards to keep them out of sight as they will get hot! Good luck! Cfx.
