Title: MTGOX are still hard work
Post by: tonyq on January 04, 2014, 01:46:43 PM
I instigated a couple of cash withdrawals by International wire transfer 6 weeks ago totalling £2,000 (I'm in the UK).
I have just contacted them asking why neither have appeared in my bank account and got this reply.

Dear Anthony,

Thank you for the email and sorry for the delay in response. Currently we are facing few backlogs and we do not have an ETA for international withdrawals. We are in the process of forming relationship with new partners, banks and taking other steps to clear the backlog. Your request for withdrawal is currently in queue and we will update you once the request is processed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Best regards,

Mt.Gox Team

What sort of a response is that after SIX WEEKS of waiting?
I am amazed at their ineptitude.
I have emailed them back asking if they have actually started the process of transferring the money and if they haven't could they put the money back into my Gox account.
I could then buy BTC, withdraw and sell elsewhere.
They really do have to get their act together.
 >:(

Hmm... most of the banks are refusing to help Mt Gox with their wire transfers. Only a very few banks are accepting their transfers.

They aren't processing international wires at the moment, but they will put the money back in your account. I know, terrible isn't it!!!

Yep, they've put the money back into my account!
I now intend to convert it to bitcoin (at the right price of course, whatever that may be) and then pull them down to my wallet to sell elsewhere (I need to pay a credit card debt off and the spoilsports don't accept BTC).
Anyone suggest the best place to sell them in terms of getting the cash swiftly?
I have a British Bank Account.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like someone is new to mtgox here.

My buddy is waiting on a wire transfer from August...

I'll have to look into whether bitstamp has a referral program.  I haven't registered with them yet.

I'm spoiled by all the great exchanges in the US.

That said, I do believe mtgox will get their act together eventually, but some people can't wait the years that it may take...

Why wait for a wire from August. Its not happening. They aren't processing international wires at all at the moment.

Tell him to email support and get it cancelled, then buy bitcoins at gox, and move to bitstamp or other exchange.

Why do you need a referral program for bitstamp ???

Nearly 7 weeks now since I started this thread.
In retrospect, the writing was on the Gox wall then wasn't it.
