What is your IQ (if you have taken any test sometime in the past).
I took only some crappy online test and didnt really pay attention to him or did some preparation, did it twice, once got 131 once got 134.

Even when the IQ test is discussed if it really reflects the inteligence of person, still, just for curiosity, did you test, whats your score?

I assume it should be pretty high for a bitcoin interested person? I think majority would be in the 120+ field?

I scored in the 140s a few years back but it's been a while...

For the business and MBA folks out there, I *did* do the GMAT and got a 640 on the first try, though. It's not super great, but it's much higher than average.

I don't really think online IQ tests are a very good indicator of intelligence, to be fair.

They aren't, most of them involve maths questions and I'm pretty shit at maths.

Well those arent really the "real iq" test. As far as i know a real iq test is universal so you can take it, asia man can take, man in africa living in a cage can take it...

But yeah i agree that online tests arent the most reliable tests (even the ones that look ok), but its still the best test i took, the best place would be to go to your local mensa club and try a test there (or in any other place that is certificate to do so) but who has the time/(maybe money) or mainly interest to go to such places.

I am also terrible at math. Don't get me wrong, I can add up, but my brain goes to mush with algebra and complex sums and doesn't want to compute.

That's the same with me, yet weirdly I am actually capable of programming >_< I just have to take my time with it and make sure I understand it all.

This was pretty much me in high school. I think Algebra was 40% of the tests, so I can't've done too bad on everything else.

But I do think any intelligent person would have to have a decent comprehension of maths.

Programming doesn't really involve much complex math. Basic knowledge can get you very far.


You may well be right in that as maths is used in almost everything and is used to explain a lot. Physics is directly linked which in my opinion both are the most interesting and needed subject in the world.

Define intelligence. I know some pretty dumb people who are academically smart, but pretty dumb in other certain areas.

I've never been formally tested but i think my IQ is pretty high because of the things my college professors used to say to me. I had one professor tell me that, "only in America is it possible for someone of your caliber to graduate from an institution of higher education." Then he asked me how much money my parents donated to the university.

IQ is practically irrelevant and I have a very high score - tested by Mensa in a classroom.

It is just a score used to highlight a persons ability to think logically in a number of different areas of testing. Its useful for very little other than boasting and belittling others!

What I have noticed with high IQ types is their inability to see problems holistically. This is where you see that some problems require a time line that isn't always connected but can still influence final outcomes.

The bitcoin community is a great example of it, where the number of zero sum forecasts of the effect that bitcoin will have seem infinite. Linked to this is the total lack of recognition of low priority people based problems and how they can change their impact with time.

Most people I know have far more useful qualities than a high IQ such as imagination, commitment, empathy, loyalty and honesty - these are far harder to test for, but are worth far more!

I happen to know a few weird brainiacs. They process information like a machine, analyse complex scientific problems but it's almost impossible to have a normal conversation with them. Imagine a guy who can hack into your pc but can't explain how he did it because of poor vocabulary.

This gave me idea. Coin that is mined by computer creating more and more complex IQ logic problems. Everyone in world tries to solve logic problem, and difficulty is adjusted to keep new block every 10 minutes, like in Bitcoin. Only world's smartest people will be able to solve blocks. Probably not possible, but would be interesting concept, maybe for science fiction story.

Luckily, I don't have a thin skin, and worry that someone on the internet doesn't believe me!

I have taken part in at least 7-8 online IQ tests. Scores varied from 128 to 138.

OMG... this is so stupid... so so so much... Realize already, that nobody cares about how you feel... i also thin that they are designed to give a higher score, but not to make you feel better, but to make money of you, since a  lot of them offer more "in depth analysis" for a fee :-).

I did a proper IQ test under exam conditions long ago and scored 156.

Judging by how much of my life has turned out so far I can confidently say that IQ is an excellent indicator for one's ability to pass IQ tests.

You may have misinterpreted me point. I don't think IQ is an indicator of much at all apart from some abstract thinking and mental agility skills.

It sure as shit doesn't make me smarter than either of them. All it does mean is that I was good at passing IQ tests on that particular day.

I think there's a little more to nuanced intelligence than that. There are probably folks out there who'd score 75 who'd be able to run intellectual rings around me in plenty of areas.

As a kid I got many clinical IQ tests and they varied in range from 138 straight up to 160 depending on how hard I tried at the moment. As adult I never completed online test as I find them confusing because of language and cultural barrier.

But believe me the IQ only measures the potential reasoning capability of person. High IQ does not guarantee that the person will get good job, have high income or success in life. I'm good example of that.

It is like taking only CPU benchmark of computer and ignoring other parameters like GPU power, memory size etc.

Firstly it is not a thing you can measure with few questions, secondly is made from a lot of sides, for example you can have high math intellignece and low verbal/speaking intelligence, thirdly your intelligence is not something "static" but it changes throughtough your life, depending on how much you excercise your brain, studying and reading, exactely as working out with muscles.

Anyway i did some tests online, just for fun, and i had all different results basically, but usually more than 125 and less than 140. So i would be very intelligent according these tests. But i am not.

You're just mad that your actual IQ is in the average if not under range.
IQ is a valid measurement for intelligent. It doesn't mean that is it perfect, but it does work. Now, if you're going to be a stripper even if you have an IQ of 180, that is your issue.

I have read that it reflects the intelligence of person, my score was 137 a couple years ago. I also know that the IQ results is different in different ages. The best result you can show is when you are 25-30 years old.

And online IQ tests don't count. Real IQ tests are so involved and cannot be recreated on a computer.

You can -never- measure IQ with a cheap online test. You'd need to be supervised in a enclosed room, and those tests don't take 10 minutes like the ones online.

But are boasting and knowing the same thing, I think not. Simply speaking Hawking was avoiding a question that may have alienated him from a fanbase not as gifted as himself, much rather turning it into a snarky reply to make those around him feel better.

As with anyone else, I would like to think that I have a high degree of intelligence - as to whether that is fact or not remains to be proven and probably shall never been done quantitatively.

when all you have to do is google to see just -how- rare it is.

You are correct it is rare but you are polling a worldwide sample in a tech forum that draws lots of people.
If you were just in a small region your polling would show a much smaller % of people with high IQ's.

Touche. I scored around 121 on a free test once, but personally I don't believe IQ is a reasonable measurement of a person's intelligence. Some people are really smart, just about more unconventional things than triangles.
