What is BitLand?

BitLand is a Next Generation Cryptographic Asset & Currency ecosystem. Bitland is a revolutionary new concept which will change the world and cryptocurrencies. This is the next step and next evolution of Crypto, it is not just a currency system but also an Cryptographic assets system!

Real world problems:

--Housing and Land is unaffordable
--Real-world assets are monopolized by corrupt corporations and government
--Resources which belong to the people such as oil, gas, agriculture, minerals, have been looted by massive anti-free market corporations and governments
--Hard Working people are unable to afford real world assets anymore, Land, realestate, resources, minerals, etc are ALL out of reach for the working man.
--Owning assets requires massive debt for the vast majority of the population
--inaccessibility to real world assets and resources has created increased levels of poverty
--Inflation, cost of living, are ruining lives and creating debt slavery
--Few accessible commodities such as gold and silver are largely manipulated where the corrupt only benefit.

All these problems gets you thinking, what can we do about it ? Nakamoto solved the problem of fiat Currency but what can we do about assets? Why can't the normal hard working individual reap his/her rewards anymore and actually enrich their lives by buying assets without going in debt, why is it just a dream that will most likely never happen.

This is where BitLand is born, BitLand is the first next generation Cryptographic Asset ecosystem, where you can buy,sell,invest, own Cryptographic Assets, resources and currency!

BitLand, how does it work?
--BitLand is exactly what it is, land ! However it is based on crytpo
--Built from scratch
--Fully Anonymous. Anonymity will be a major factor
--BitLand will have its own De-centralized Exchange
--BitLand is composed of a mix of next generation POS+POW concepts.
--BitLand will generate "Deeds" , Deeds is a software license that is also the main engine behind BitLand.
--Deeds will enable the BitLand ecosystem, inside the ecosystem there will be multiple assets and resources such as BitOil, BitHomes, BitEnergy, BitRareEarth, among many many others.
--Crypto-Contracts will be part of the ecosystem, secure crypto contracts will insure terms between parties are signed and met and can be used for legal purposes.

What are deeds?
--Deed owners will OWN BitLand.
--Deed owners will always automatically receive a percentage of ALL and every transaction within BitLand, including any resources found within the ecosystem or any Crytpo Realestate constructed.
--BitLand deeds will be traded in an exchange
--BitLand Deeds can be leased!
--There is a Finite amount of land which is FIXED, all Deeds will be generated ONCE and traded
--Land cannot be Mined, however resources within BitLand can be mined and realestate can be constructed
--Only 4Million Land deeds will ever be created

Resources & Real estate:
--The BitLand Ecosystem will compromise of various multiple resources
--Resources will be "discovered" part of a unique exploration system which rewards miners
--You can build or trade realestate in BitLand
--Some resources will be rare, some will be abundant depending on the type.

Construction:
--Construction requires Land, in order for you to construct realestate you will require to own some land (deeds) to construct on. The amount of realestate is limited to the amount of Land you hold
--Construction will compose of unique algorithm similar to mining where you can use your machines to build your own Crypto Realestate
--Realestate will be income generating as the ecosystem grows in size.

Revolutionary Mining concept:
--Miners will be able Mine resources such as BitOil, BitRareEarth, BitWater and various other resources
--Some mining components will require resources to operate!!
--Mining is merged with "EXPLORATION" , this means BitLand System will CREATES resources and release them in the system. Explorers of the resource will get larger percentage of discovered resource.

Mining will be cross platform:
--Mining will be available for everyone! Why should mining be only restricted to ASIC or GPU owners?!
--Mining will be available for asics, GPU, CPU, consoles and MOBILE processors! Yes you can mine and construct from your mobile phone. This gives everyone a chance to mine

Corporations:
--People will be able to setup Corporations within the BitLand ecosystem
--Energy coprations, realestate corporations etc
--Corporations can own various assets or land and can buy/sell these crypto assets
--Corporations will be used to liquidate your assets to real-world assets

Real World liquidation:
Via Corporations, individuals will be able to liquidate their assets into real world assets. For example you can setup a shop that allows you convert to fiat and realestate in any country in the world.

Currencies:
--Currency integration will include Bitcoin,Litecoin, eMunie and many more.
--This means you can trade resources, assets and land using various Currencies

Simulator:
-- A distant plan to create a simulation system where people can view BitLand in a 3D crytpographic world

Checks and balances:
The BitLand system will create FREEMARKET ethical checks and balances to insure no individual or corporation has too much control.

How will BitLand be allocated:
-- On launch 50% of all BitLand will be allocated to donors in form of Deeds. Deed owners earn percentage of all income generated within the BitLand ecosystem Please read above for more details on deeds. The first 50% is exclusive for donors and will be split among donors as per donation ratio.
--The other 50% of BitLand will be released on launch and traded at the price the market decides at the time.
--50% - 50% split is to create fairness.
--Total Number of BitLand 4Million land deeds, this will never be increased as crypto land is finite.

As with all projects digital or real world, the risk of failure is always a reality, Only donate if you can afford to.

Also, is there really a difference between owning certain percentage of the cryptocurrency and owning part of BitLand ecosystem from the standpoint of investor? What is the point of all these fancy assets? It looks like decentralized Second Life.

All these assets just seem to hide the fact that the selected group will own the majority of the land.

*smh* Good, they are the ones willing to put up the initial investment. This 'forced equality' idea that floats around the forum is so against free market principles, it hurts. I won't invest unless there's some type of escrow, but that's a completely different issue entirely.

Looking forward to this. Nice work on coming up with something original. Like all of the gambling sites out there for crypto sometimes people want to do more with crypto than just buy things, gamble, invest, and trade.  This is a good example of what can be done for entertainment/gaming purposes. Not a whole lot of offerings out there that are not a copy coin let alone something different. Any Simcity fan will be all over this one.

 I don't smell SimCity here, I smell Minecraft ).

First:
Thank you for whoever has donated so far, your donations are appreciated, they might be few but generous every one of them. And thank you for the kind words, a feeling of courage is felt when people appreciate a revolutionary idea.

Apologies:
For the lack of updates and taking a while to respond to questions, it's been very busy and at the moment the focus is to get things sorted out getting the proper backing and the right people for such a complex project is a tricky process as anyone who did some development or project management knows. The focus is not at marketing it to the public at the moment, as BitLand is still at an early stage.

It's not just a game :-) :
Many have stated that BitLand is like a game maybe you can think of it that way but it really is much more. BitLand replaces real-world assets and creates an entire freemarket Crytpo eco-system for all to participate in. After BitLand there will be no need for merchant adoption or government approval for Crypto like bitcoin, litecoin etc to gain widespread adoption or price increase, all that is required is BitLand.  

Baseless hateful hurtful comments & attacks:
Unfortunately, there have been a few people going around attacking BitLand and attempting to smear, none of them donated and it's getting frustrating with the constant messages. To them, all that can be said is "did you even bother reading the project concept?" Do you even know how grand this is. There has been some rubbish going around calling themselves 'revolutionary' and offering IPOs like its the stock market. BitLand never offered IPO, BitLand is clearly a donationware, the incentives are rewards to donors who wanted to help out the project. Have u seen the target donation it's tiny compared to actual development costs, compare it to countless other early crypto projects who collected thousands of BTC donations some even failed. It's funny that so many people fail to realize that some of the greatest opensource projects have all been donationware, some failed but some achieved massive success like firefox and wikipedia for example.

It is hateful and does no purpose to attack BitLand, it is advised to stop these baseless attacks just because some bunch of rubbish who barely speak english appear to happen at the same time gives no one the right to link BitLand to them, please just stop.

Good Faith:
BitLand donors are some of the nicest caring people you will ever meet, no one has any right to attack them and as a show of good faith and to silence the haters BitLand will offer refunds at this time to donors who request for their funds back even though donation refunds is an unheard of concept it would also come at a loss.

Next update:
As mentioned earlier, things are complex at the moment and getting things right before the project takes off is tricky. In the next 2 weeks or so a more clear picture will be drawn and everyone will be updated as to where the project stands and what will the next move be.

what the Algorithm ?

Different resources and real estate construction within bitland ecosystem will have different algorithms which allows wide range of mining, some maybe need asic some CPU or mobile is enough :-)

Dont forget bitland deeds will be created once and will not be available for mining, they also generate income for their holders who get a percentage of all transactions within bitland.

This might actually be a good way to bring new people over to cryptocurrency. You take a system they know, and convert it into mining.
Then you can buy deeds earning you passive income.

actually as mentioned in the original post, C++ is the core. JAVA is in the list for android mobile integration and ruby for web. Don't worry, JAVA isn't anyone's favorite lang it can be frustrating for end users ;-)

Interesting Concept but maybe some milestone and reward confirmation will draw more donations.

Even kickstarter clearly state what they get for donations.

Asking people to donate  BTC for an interesting concept base on SimCity with no technical details is a bit vague and possible label it as scam.

An escow will show your commitment toward your sincerity of your project and the community.

I thought that this calculation is simple as far as the donationlimit is not getting higher:
4,000,000 Deeds
50% of all Deeds will be allocated to donors( 2 Mio)
Donationlimit: 10 BTC

1 BTC = 200,000 Deeds

Feb 9 2014 BitLand Update:

Programmer:

Unfortunately BitLand's main programmer left the project and moved to another project that won't be named, taking critical core development code along with him. This is a major set back for BitLand but since the idea and vision doesn't belong to the programmer, it is not the end but a delay. Due to this setback, refunds are being offered from the total of 1.9BTC raised so far from the donations (minus Bitcoin network transaction fee if any), although this will be at a loss for BitLand, but as a gesture of goodwill it is being offered. After this period, refunds from donations won't be offered even if the project doesn't materialize in the future. Hopefully once project launched, BitLand will find a way to provide early donors an advantage over any funding model/IPO launched in the future.

Good news & Funding Models:

The BitLand idea is still alive, and even more ambitious than ever before. Due to this, BitLand requires a more robust and larger scale funding model. Currently the following funding models are being explored. A Marketing campaign will also follow any funding method selected. The Aim is to raise an approx $3-$5 Million to make the project happen, with full development teams working on it.

1. A Bitshares style funding model, Bitland releases 2 different (or 1 type) of Crypto-Shares which people can buy. The holders of these shares will own a a stake in BitLand Deeds.

2. An IPO where Public is invited to donate into the project, BitLand deeds will be distributed to donators (Similar to the initial plan, but in a much much larger scale)

3. Raise Funds in a closed funding invite-only ceremony. The Plan is to approach Angel investors and large corporations (ELECTRONIC ARTS is one potential interest for funding), without compromising decentralization of course.

The reason the Funding requirement is higher now, is because BitLand is going to go on a larger scale. We realized a small BitLand is not enough, especially with large competitors arising like Ethereum & BitShares (Although BitLand is very different and unique and not really a direct competitor). BitLand main focus is Mobile Platforms, this is something everyone you know will be using to own their own digital assets and income generating.

When?

Due to delay as mentioned earlier, BitLand target launch is Q4 2014 (around the same time Ethereum Launches)

Hopefully once project launched, BitLand will find a way to provide early donors an advantage over any funding model/IPO launched in the future.

I'm curious as to how else you will combat issues of dead weight investors, i.e. investors who claim to be enthusiastic and dedicated, up until the point that they vanish with their stake and let everyone else do the leg work while they sit and watch.

It would, in my opinion, be a good idea for the additional rewards to dedicated community members to be handed out more gradually; more like a salary than an overall lump sum. This adds in an incentive to keep "doing" whatever it is they are doing to contribute.

I'm entirely new to NXT and its siblings, but I'd be interested to see if someone could actually create a stable community model based around the platform that encourages mutual cooperation rather than a singular motive for greed.

That, and I love a good experiment. Provided this is a genuine effort to be "different" from the other NXT clones, then consider me interested. If it isn't, then I'm not.

I really suggest that you rather start with Huntercoin and modify it.  They already have a world with a map and areas that could be carved up and sold off.  I very much like the idea of Bitland as a sort of SimCity. 

And look also at PixelCoin.  Maybe your Bitland equals Hunetercoin plus Pixelcoin?

I'm looking for less known coins , that haven't yet hit the news , but still have some potential , cons that have stayed below radar for most people or have become more or less abandoned. Are there still things going on with this?

Why don't you say something like:

Take 20% of total deeds to be made, and set those aside for early adopters, so you can raise some initial capital to get this thing started.

That's 800 blocks. And have people donate .05 btc per block. So early investors get 1000 deeds per donation. That's 40 BTC to get this thing jump started.

If this thing takes off, you will have then rewarded those here that share your vision as well.

I think Bitland is a very good idea. But you need to keep people more updated as well.

Estimated development costs?

We need enthusiast programmers with mad skills and interest in developper's stake, not salary ). Taking this project under standart estimation and trying to collect necessary money will drive it to the middle of nowhere.

Island or not island, the point is to have an environment of freedom. Since governments are good at taking control of areas, that means some area. Currently no area are unhampered by government, all arease, including those not currently used, are taken.

Sometimes restrictive governments understand that freedom is needed (to fill their coffers and expand their power), but instead of gradually freeing their whole area, they establish zones with greater economic freedom. So the best bet is to make use of one of those.
