Title: Bitcoin Symbol in Excel
Post by: BTC Turkiye on May 19, 2018, 06:06:08 PM
Anyone knows how to automatically put ₿ in front of all number amounts in an excel sheet and still keep the cell as a number to be used in somewhere else?

I tried to use the currency setting but Bitcoin is not there. The symbol is only listed in the Symbol box. So you have to manually added  which means when you add it like below

Code:
=" ₿ "&SUM(E3:E34)

You can't get the number of that cell and use it somewhere else because it has a manually put symbol in it

Yes, you can add it automatically. Just modify your currency to Bitcoin or follow this(for windows only) /* you must have Office 2016:
1. close all office applications.
2. open Control Panel ----> Clock, Language, and Region category.
3. click Region then additional settings ---> Currency tab
4. Paste your bitcoin Currency symbol on Currency symbol *
5. click ok, then apply and ok.
6. open excel then use same way for adding $.

* you can get bitcoin symbol from "0234 alt+x".

Yeah but this way entire windows will use Bitcoin instead of dollar in every application and software. I just need to have this in one specific excel sheet

No, if you use this way you will add BTC to your accounting symbols. So you will have BTC, $, .... etc.
You can use it like any other accounting symbols.

I do not think this method affects the rest of your work just will add a new symbol

Could you please give me the directions for windows 10?
I don`t see additional settings. There`s "Additional date, time......" but no currency tab there or in "Advanced keyboard settings"

Actually hold on. Do you know if there`s a way to add more than one currency?
When I follow your steps and add litecoin now, it takes over Bitcoin symbol.

I'm sorry, I use Windows 8, so the style is different

This is because this option is available if Office does not support your country's currency.
There is a code to add new symbols, but I do not remember it now "will update when remembering," but this is the easiest way.
I do not know why this symbol has not yet been added but may be automatically supported in the future version
