Title: Holy crap that was a large transaction
Post by: 2tights on January 05, 2014, 06:04:19 PM
Every so often I bitlisten.com

Just now, I saw the biggest transaction that I've ever seen. I know there have been larger ones, but I haven't seen them.

It was 10,200.80 BTC (i think, but I by be a few off)

I'm not that knowledgable about tracing bitcoin transactions on the blockchain, but I'm going to dive in to see if I can follow the story of the wallet this huge transaction was sent from as well as the wallet that it was sent to. Wow.

Does anyone who researches these have any thoughts on this transaction?nnn

Mod note: link changed to bitlisten, listentobitcoin contains malware (http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1ia7q2/listen_to_bitcoin_contains_malware/?sort=top)

Maybe it was from an exchange or payment processor moving some coins from cold storage.
Or maybe the NSA managed to bruteforce somebody's key :P

I checked on blockchain.info and blockexplorer.com but I can't see anything for 10200.80 in the last 2 hours, are you sure?

$175,864,186.70 according to Blockchain.info This is incorrect.

Any blockchain analysts fancy doing some digging?  :)

It was definitely 10,200. Are you stating $ for a reason? Although I am certain of this amount, shortly after there was another very large transaction but I didn't see the amount.

And just as I was about to visit listentobitcoin.com...

Either way, the large transaction is probably an exchange website moving things around.

I got a PM warning me about this site, after I spent a morning in bed chillaxing to the tones of bits passing through the block chain....
Can I just ask how the malware does it's thing on this site? if one know's... I've scanned, all is good, just interested :P (ala , bitcoin makes me more paranoid than I was before getting into it!)

I have my fix now from bitlisten.com haha

The site was hijacked a while ago and is now randomly serving Java drivebys.
The original owner moved to http://www.bitlisten.com/ which is clean.

well it started 23 December when i visited listentobitcoin.com @ that moment a java file got installed without interference named shezam.exe (i retreived it from the java install log) see below

%http://listentobitcoin.info/sezam.exe   188.165.49.114    <null> HTTP/1.1 200 OK content-length 502272
last-modified Fri, 20 Dec 2013 17:50:53 GMT expires Mon, 06 Jan 2014 15:44:16 GMT content-type application/octet-stream date Mon, 23 Dec 2013 15:44:16 GMT server nginx
cache-control max-age=1209600

the file installed RAT Cybergate @ c:\directory\cybergate\googleupdate.exe a backdoor that give's complete access to the users's computer / webcam / chrome passwords / keylogger etc so he waited his turn and when i was making dinner @ about 6 o clock he started selling xpm for bitcoin and transferring my litecoin, because my gmail was open he had access to the confirmation mail as well all in about 30 minutes total losses 0.47 btc and 15 ltc luckily al mined so no real harm there but it sucks big time because i spend al day chancing passwords, and banging my head i didn't activate the 2FA on cryptsy

so everybody please learn from it

eheh kinda awesome isn't it? Maybe it's a good idea to implement a mandatory fee for transactions over 1,000BTC ($10M)
We, the majority with much less, should all agree to this :P

That is rather a large sum, now let's just hope they're not planning to change to fiat as this would have somewhat of a detrimental affect on the price.

I guess it's their prerogative, but it'd be nice if they supported the network, especially with large amounts.  IMO.

Doesn't seem to be very accurate... Largest tx is supposed to be 550,000 in 2011, IIRC
