Title: Coinye West has been taken down; by Kanye West himself?
Post by: cryptocoinsnews on January 06, 2014, 10:01:46 PM
For a few days ago we published the news about the new cryptocurrency called Coinye West. The coin received international attention and had clearly a “to the moon” potential during the initial launch which was supposed to be January 11th 2014.

Now, the coin’s official twitter account has been removed, and the two subreddits Coinyewest and Coinyemarket has been locked.

Even the official site coinyewest.com is now pointing to another domain called coinyeco.in which gives you the image below:

Read the full story here: http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/2014/01/06/coinye-west-taken-kanye-west/

The question is: why was the coin taken down? Did the managers or team to Kanye West contact the creator himself with a lawsuit in their hands? What do you think?

There is info up on the page now. Looks like no involvement from Kanye.

Not sure why they changed the logo. Original was better.

If you can't see it, let me explain to you... they did this on purpose to get some coverage and people attention (maybe a friend on cryptocoinsnews?)
The thing is nobody give a shit about this coin. don't matter how much you pump this

Wouldn't surprise you if they had a cease and desist for using Kayne's image, the video montage/snippets in the background, and "passing off" with the domain name.

I think the change in design is to avoid legalities to do with selling a likeness of someone's image, so I think Kanye's legal team has probably issued a cease and desist. It's a standard practice.

However, satire isn't covered, that's more of a freedom of speech issue, and so therefore the new coin design is allowed, and still has Kanye associated with it, without the legal implications.

In short terms; an utter fail.

Fucktard, exactly, more resembles the real piece of trash who jumps on stage and attacks a celebrity and doesn't even get arrested for it.

you guys claiming nothing but a 'pump & dump' are missing the point ..... THIS stunt is spreading crypto to the masses more than any other coin by a long shot.

Thats right! Its the stunt and now the fact its released and they can't kill it will show people how crypto can't be stopped.

I personally like the gay fish more as it shows his true form!!\

I actually didn't even like the idea of the coin until they tried to stop it.
