Title: Mining alts
Post by: aalborg on January 07, 2014, 12:49:57 AM
I want to mine some alts, just little ones.

What do I do?

Buy a HD (and monitor) with a good graphics card and fast processor?

Would be grateful if you could give an indication of the minimum worth buying in terms of the specs (e.g. HD should be "X" GBs, graphics card "X" Mhash/Khash, computer processor should be "X" MHZ. Brands not necessarily important because I live in the place time forgot.

I want to do it on the cheap (2nd hand), for fun. But I don't want to waste my time. I don't want to waste electricity either, so would pay more for a machine that is easier on the supply.

Answers to the little questions would help me a lot.

I am on the same page as you just need a little help to start up.

From what I have gathered Scrypt mining is the way to go

This is the link I have going to be using hope this points you in the right direction: http://www.cryptobadger.com/build-your-own-litecoin-mining-rig/

also I believe for mining alt coins you want to join a pool which changes to the most profitable coin of the automatically.

Sorry couldnt be much help but in the same boat as you.

if your script mining most of your money should be invested in the PSU and grafix card. system ram/cpu/mobo means little in script mining.
