Congratulations!

Very clean UI. Market history soon?

As soon as tommorow we could have it. thanks for suggestion right now we are dealing with a few pressing issues

trade:

removing fee from total instead of adding it, so its less confusing.

fixing order stacking.

buy orders has a bug and are not displaying.

we've went into maintenance mode temporarily so we can limit access while its fixed. we've dispatched a notice to the twitter. We'll be back shortly. don't panic.

I made a mistake. When i went to backup one of the databases responsible for storing user accounts, i accidentally deleted 40 rows of accounts.

the situation is this: your deposits and some other account information is still lingering in the db so:

if you made a deposit, i am in the process of creating an account for you under the same name.

to login and regain control of your account, simply enter the transaction hash of your first deposit to openex as your password. remember to change your password as soon as you log in.

if you had not made any deposits yet, i regretfully inform you will have to sign up again. I apologize for this mistake, it is very unfortunate.

maybe add a "beta status" somewhere on the page. would be fair and more serioushly :)
another bug is the calculation of the values, should work in all directions, e.g. buy xy coins for this price = cost in btc

still a good start and nice dark and plain interface, waiting for history.

btw: plz DON'T add many other coins to soon, would not benefit the page imho, coins-e is what happens if you add to much coins :)

I have to agree with emu. A beta tag would be nice. Also like I told in chat, I would be willing to work on openex a bit if you update the git ;).

Also, great tnx for an opensource exchange. But it needs a little work.

Same opinion.

I'm not at all fan of a black background. Seems unprofessional. The small animation between pages (this scroll up/down) is not necessary at all and breaks the website smoothness. An exchange must be functionnal, not bling bling. When you list the balances, the white font on a blue table on a dark background really hurt eyes. The icons on the top are too small.

VERY GOOD POINT!!!! Now a lot of people are using a WTS/WTB spreadsheet, but if it is directly available on a exchange then people can directly put their orders in. He don't know what kind of money he is missing out here... You need to add value to your customers, and customers are the miners, and the miners are mining those crap/non crap coins because they think they can profit out of it, or they think this coin has a nice future, ... add all coins and make decent money, or get the current list and die after a few months, as everybody will go to cryptsy.

Well it was just a friendly suggestion in a coin I watched over the past while, mind you I was only suggesting this coin as I have no real ties to this coin.  I simply noticed it has been around for ~3 months with next to no issues with it's blockchain, wallet, etc.....

It doesn't have much community support, but then again neither does your coin anymore.

Thanks, if you decide not to based on your research I 100% agree with you, i just hate people running to conclusions.

On a side note I did like your coin :).. .even if there is not much activity. It seemed stable with a good name and a decent exchange price.

But what is important here? Allowing people to trade and try to create money, or have a empty exchange, because let be honest, at the moment there are only 2 coins that counts, BTC and LTC, the other coins are trying to become third, fourth,... but they don't mean anything in the world (for now).

Wow where is that from?

I have been with Gridcoin for a few months now and I have never heard of this. The client had some synching issues due to the complexity of integrating Boinc, but this has been solved already. Now there are integrated statistics on some of the science projects that users are participating in. There is a lot of cool stuff that no other coin has.

Download the client and see for yourself.

There was recently an article in a Chinese news site on Gridcoin here: http://media.163.com/14/0106/14/9HTOLTPH00762OM6.html

i wanted to add it at first, but couldn't generate any interest. some chatter about devs being scammers and client being broken.
No, NOT scammers; not sure where that came from either;  A couple investors offered $1 - $10 million for the coin and I turned it down; so we're definately in this for the long haul now!

I agree / It does look awesome !

In fact I think it is time to get into trading now !

Smooth interface !

ever heard about look&feel?
this is hurting my eyes... 8)

The icons on the top are too small.

then trade at cryptsy you bootstrap hugging conformist  :P

i think it looks awesome.

Where can I find the state of a withdraw? This morning at 7 a.m. I've made a withdraw of dimecoin to my wallet and 7 hours later I donīt have anything.... Ok... withdraw received  ;)

Where can I see how many coin I have put in several sell orders? May I go coin to coin to check all my orders?

Thanks in advance

sorry i was a sleep. since the exchange is very beta, i built a withdrawal queue so i would have to manually verify the legitimacy of withdrawals. its a good thing to, because i think i have found a flaw in the system. more details to come shortly.

at the current time you have to go coin to coin, which i know is a hassle. we are working on broader history pages. sorry for the delay of features. we are working on adding all the feauters everyone requests but hard to keep up with demand and answer same questions at once.

for now, i have added minimum withdrawal rules for

doge (50 coin),dimecoin (50 coin),btc(.005 coin), and 42coin(.0000002 coin).

It looks like i will have to put the site into maintenance mode so that i can fix some of the underlying issues, otherwise i will just continue to be overran with user issues without fixing the actual problem.

i would like to give everyone about 30 minutes to an hour to withdraw any coins before i put the site into maintenance mode. do not be cute and attempt to withdraw to fake addresses. i will simply delete the request, and you wil lose the coins. we're not gonna play these little games at my exchange, comprende amigos?

btw: it's time to get the "my orders" another "type" row, showing if it is a SELL or a BUY order, guess you know that. same goes for history, everything is a "bought" atm. Still think openex is doing a good job for a newborn ^^

Title: Re: [ANN]{OpenEx} Trading/Withdraw Issues resolved(Fee calculation, forms etc.)
Post by: r3wt on January 11, 2014, 11:33:48 PM
We fixed the system last night. everything running smoothly. now we're adding the features we need. please be advised already completed trades will still show up with the wrong amount in your trade history. there is no way for us to reverse this since all trades at a given price were being sent as 1 record upon execution.

if you have lost anything or your account has error, do not hesitate to contact support. we will gladly assist you.

the remaining issue we've fixed is the withdrawals were not refunding the correct amount for canceled requests. that is now fixed as well.

Now I am beggining work on a cancellation page, where a user will be able to cancel trades and cancel pending withdrawal requests.

thanks for your patience while we worked out these issues, and thanks for supporting us in our endeavor.

security vulnerability patched, server restarted. if you were unable to deposit we were busy converting fopen in jsonrpcclient to curl request for security purposes. client communication has been restored, and all functions resumed on site.

Thanks,

It's funny you should say that, I was browsing the source code and was going to tell you that you were going to run into issues using the fopen version :)  I had the same issue with cryptothrift.com

At the risk of sounding redundant, we think we've finally fixed all the issues at once. for now everything looks to finally be working in unison.

just a question any idea when you will be back as i did a withdraw as ya when down has not shown up at the other end so trying to work out if it still pending your end or what cheers

Just before we went into maintenance mode we cancelled all withdrawals because we had found the bug in the system. some traders had used it to get double coins in trades. The only thing we can do is payout all withdraw requests and hope that enough users stay around long enough for the fee's to work the site out. We won't be making any profit for a long time though at this rate. no telling how many users were exploiting the system, but i digress. You can submit your withdrawal again when you get back on the site. I am approving all withdrawals until i go to sleep, which will be soon because i'm dog tired.

They usually sleep 24h?... they are worst than sleeping beauty...  :(

I think it would be good some words from developers in order to explain what is happen... or at least I think that way...

... On twitter he said he has to take a sleep.

I really wonder where all this bad experiences come from. Ok my first account seemed to be deleted, but I had no deposits on that, and so that was ok for me. With my second account absolutely everything worked smooth. No problems in deposits. Trading was in the beginning a little buggy, but worked fine. I opened up to five support tickets now, and i got answer within 30 min to 3h for all of them.

Come on guys, it's not a project with a hundreds of thousand dollars startup budget, and: where are the good feelings come from when there is no improvement ?... ;)

I am pretty sure the site is down because of a bug. After cancelling a buy order (this afternoon) you didn't get the right amount of BTC back. Actually, you got twice the amount back into your balance. Of course this would have been the best BTC-doubling method ever, but can't imagine they would have paid out. So I guess they have to adjust quite some balances. A few moments after mentioning this the site changed into maintenance mode.

vingaard: actually we work about 32 hours straight apiece and i just woke up from a 5 hour nap. why don' tyou talk some more shit huh?

Gerrit: Thank you for mentioning the bug to us. we wouldn't have known if you wouldn't have said something.

I might have found a bug - my balance is off by about 3 BTC from where it should be and changed as of 90 minutes ago. Opened a ticket - please take a look.

PS - thanks for providing this service, r3wt.

I'm sorry but, your balance was actually wrong due to the bugs that awarded double coins for trades yesterday. we wrote a script to correct them.

here is your deposit and trade history + balance history.

turns out, your deposits and others are missing because we were hacked by ssh and the bitcoin wallet.dat was stolen.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=414777.new#new

I see the bounty that you've put up. Aside from that, what else do you plan to respond with? Will you be compensating us? The only reason I had BTC remaining on the server was that withdrawals were disabled - apparently only for legitimate users. :-/

the application was not hacked, it was the server. somehow fail2ban had been uninstalled and was not protecting the login anymore.

and yes i will be paying people back, fuck if i know how i will be. i have a little over .5 btc to my name and various other altcoins, but yes i have no other choice than to repay it.

Good answer. Get someone trusted in the community to review and harden the exchange service - if you can regain the trust of the community, you'll be able to earn enough to pay it back.

I don' t think so. i would advise withdrawing all coins. there is simply not an option to continue on at this point. what if it was hacked again?

I might have found a bug - my balance is off by about 3 BTC from where it should be and changed as of 90 minutes ago. Opened a ticket - please take a look.

PS - thanks for providing this service, r3wt.

I'm sorry but, your balance was actually wrong due to the bugs that awarded double coins for trades yesterday. we wrote a script to correct them.

here is your deposit and trade history + balance history.

that trade history is incorrect and you know it. the trade history is messed up and shows all orders that execute together at once. meaning your history records include those of other users who sold at the same price. this is a known flaw in the system, still hasn't been corrected fully. you got exactly what you were owed, that much i know. the balance side of it is correct, but the history side of it is where the flaw lies. go ahead and go public with it. i don't give a rats ass

Quote
Deposits
<snip - makes for a post that's way too long>

these trade prices don't sum the amount and account for the fee taken from each sell, but i'm pretty sure your balance should have been .5

if you are missing any deposits, let us know and we will gladly correct it.

No deposits are missing. Total sum of BTC from the buys and sells posted above comes out to 3.09 BTC. Please take a 2nd look.

So wait a minute, first there is a flaw in trades that awards double coins and then there's a flaw where all of the trade histories are off? Really, for someone that wants to provide a trusted service like an exchange to the public you don't seem to be taking much ownership in your own product.

I know this:

- I deposited .3 BTC.
- I bought .1 BTC worth of 42 at approximately 33BTC per 42 and received .003 42
- I sold .0026 forty two for over 1100BTC per 42 or around 3 BTC
<here's where you post that you got hacked>
- I withdrew my .5 BTC and .00037 42

Forget anything else...I had a value of over 3BTC in my account and it's not in my withdrawal history. I would like you to give a rats ass about the facts - if you don't, then how the hell do you expect anyone to trust you ever again?

I admire your patience and self control with that reply. I would be pissed as hell if I was spoken to like that after being robbed.

he's a fucking liar. he wasn't robbed.

My patience is wearing thin. Post the transactions in my account if you're going to make accusations - I've used the transaction history and you say that your own system isn't to be trusted. What is the public supposed to think about that?

Wow - you've got a lot of balls saying that someone with no history of scamming is an extortionist liar. Do you deny the following?

1) Deposit .3 BTC. https://blockchain.info/tx/2a674cfa8ff5659968e5886eff6fe3be14c0367fac5827dc1692c6040478c728
2) Buy 42 with .1 BTC @ 33 BTC/42
3) Sell 0.0026 42 for 1100-1390 BTC ea for a total of 3BTC

Take my request for an answer seriously or you might as well kiss your business goodbye. No one will trade on an exchange with poor customer service, nevermind the way that you're acting now.

I'm trying to figure out how 3 btc just dissapeared from your account. sounds like a bunch of fud to me. I'm going to sleep. when i wake up, i will workbench into the server and investigate the backups. it looks to me like there might be something missing from the records somehow. there is something i think may have happened, but i'm not for sure yet. i haven't added up the numbers exactly or sorted your buys sells to get an accurate number. when i figure it out , i will get back with you. fair enough?

I'm going to sleep. when i wake up, i will workbench into the server and investigate the backups. it looks to me like there might be something missing from the records somehow. there is something i think may have happened, but i'm not for sure yet. i haven't added up the numbers exactly or sorted your buys sells to get an accurate number. when i figure it out , i will get back with you. fair enough?

My account has very few trades - essentially 1 deposit and a round trip buy 42/sell 42 and then a withdrawal - it'll be easy to see.
Get some sleep, do your investigation and get back to me, please.

Open again. We encourage only small deposits while we continue to test and make sure everything works as its supposed to. thanks for putting up with our miscues. we hope to put that in the past if possible.

Do not use this exchange.  It is utterly insecure and you're throwing away any coins you deposit.  There is no fixing the code on this one, it's fundamentally insecure.  See my main post at:

I just saw all the posts about this exchange.  I can't believe this person is already re-opening it.  Hope none of you who are stupid enough to deposit money at this point end up losing it.

explain to me the point of preventing a client from echoing javscript into a get request? get requests get a resource, don't post any data. how exactly is that a security vulnerability?

Opening back up already? We're supposed to believe you went from complete syadmin noob to pro in 3 days?

Should have spent at least a month learning the stuff you don't know and patching up the holes in your code. But it's not your coins that get lost in a hack it's the people who deposit at your exchange so I guess you've got nothing to lose.

Rather new to the whole scene, but just an observation it seems the operator is at least upfront about what is going on, and even states to trade with caution and deposit small amounts for now.

I will deposit a small, very small as I am just starting out, amount to check it out. I can't say any of the other exchanges offer anything too spectator at this point, with maybe the exception of BTC-e, especially for trading the alts. So if nothing else, we should at least encourage these new exchanges to get up and running. More competition will be better for everyone.

defeated the vulnerability. came from someoneelses code which often happens on projects like this.

fixed with javascript:

Code:
var MarketId = $(this).val(<?php echo($_GET['market']); ?>)
if (! MarketId.match(/^[^A-Za-z0-9+#\-\.]+$/)){
                //remove the inline js
$(this).val(txt.replace(char, ''));
}

https://openex.pw/index.php?page=trade&market=%27%27;alert(%27You%20are%20an%20idiot.%27);

if you find any more vuln's let me know hiksuhn. i'll patch them all  :P

you claim to care so much about these people and their money, surely you must take it upon yourself to depart your superior knowledge on me? ROFL

edit: nevermind it, doesn't work. it stops the input but interferes with a normal request too.

jsonencode when echoing the market id into js seems to work. i talked to Vern and he said it "should" work but a crafty attacker would figure that out too.

Did you update git allready? I'm more then willing to spend some of the few free hours I have working on the code.

Also, how many skein are you still missing on the exchange, just PM me, I could fill some fund gaps on skein for you.

What do you plan to do about the missing SKC? Can you tell us the details like how much the exchange has? Can you find out the illegitimate SKC in the account balances and delete it? I am wary of using the exchange while these issues are not solved.

The 2550 illegitimate coins (and the 2550 legitimate ones) went away after I cancelled an order. You paid me 2500 back. And you owe me 50 (which isn't a big deal). I'm asking because I don't want to deposit any bitcoin and get more SKC until I know it is fixed.

oh well yeah the issues are fixed, but i still have to adjust balances on a case by case base, especially on old deposits that never credit. one thing i can do is set a deposit to unpaid, then when the daemon runs to check deposits it will see that the transaction is confirmed but unpaid, and it will recredit it. sometimes the transaction check doesn't go back more than about 24 hours, so if the daemon has crashed for an extended amount of time it will have to be manually added unfortunately or with the deposit check.

Was that manual? So the exchange has more than or equal to the amount of SKC in account balances?

not manual per se, but the withdraw request goes into a queue with options "approve | deny" if approve is clicked and there isn't enough the withdraw fails. if there is enough the withdraw executes, the transaction hash is printed, its deleted from the queue and the view is refreshed.

so its automated, but with manual approval

These forums are filled with the biggest bunch of know it all's & asses that have gravitated to one place since the internet was invented.

Tomorrow or the next day I should have time & will take a look at a few things.

Can't promise I can offer anything of use.

The only thing I can promise is not to keep busting your balls like the hive mind mentality here.

New api methods added:

https://openex.pw/api.php?Pub=<your public key>&Priv=<your private key>&Method=CreateNewTrade&Amount=<amount>&Price=<price per>&MarketId=<market id>&Type=<buy or sell>

https://openex.pw/api.php?Pub=<your public key>&Priv=<your private key>&Method=GetPrivTradeHistory&MarketId=<market id>&Limit=<depth of trade history>

All credit to michael, who is doing a great job on the api and also fixed the tx id "-000" vulnerability.

After a whirlwind of a week, i am happy to announce that we're open once more. deposit and use with caution, everything appears to be working normally but that does not mean its safe yet. I would test with only small amounts. we need to see how the system holds up for now. I would say its much more secure than before, especially on the trade and withdrawal page where we've had the most costly of problems.

https://openex.pw

Looking good. You should consider adding Metiscoin (MTC). Its based off quark with a couple different hash functions. Ypool is mining it so there would be a lot of volume!

I have been using this exchange since it launched, and so far they have better stuff than coinedup for example you never get an aswer from coinedup when you contact them.
and the site is very sluggish.

openex.pw = BEWARE SCAM ADMIN AND SCAM WEBSITE.  BEWARE OF THIS P.O.S. WEBSITE.

I deposited a tiny 0.01511261 BTC on the 23rd January to see how this site runs.  Its now the 1st February, the deposit is still not appearing as a credit on my account, but I got this message on the 29th:

Code:

Message:
check your account history. you deposited it then withdrew it.
I would have checked if I had internet access at home, which were interrupted the last few days...  I have had several requests to the admin to look into this, first he apologised that he is swamped with issues  and alone, so everything will take some time.  I understood that, one guy alone would struggle.  Then I got a message that I withdrew it, which I couldnt because it wasnt EVEN SHOWING AS A BALANCE!!!

Transaction : https://blockchain.info/tx/10c3fe8760675f62d137d5b859c84586684391b3105864b08432f99db929fbb4 (https://blockchain.info/tx/10c3fe8760675f62d137d5b859c84586684391b3105864b08432f99db929fbb4)

So, it has been withdrawn by someone, but it was not me.  I have been waiting for it to appear on balance!
Now here is the f&n hilarious thing : Coins received on this address 0.77763324 BTC.  I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS AMOUNT OF BTC again since I bought BTB last year, and lost alot when the value dropped.

Luckily I didnt have more BTC to deposit...

You can find some SKC right here (https://freshmarket.co.in/index.php?page=trade&market=113). But really be careful right now - the sell prices are pricey (shh they are mine  :D) and the buy prices are insanely dirt cheap(shh they are also mine :D). I would advise you to try to buy them in bulk from an early miner looking to exit  ;)

As for BLC... Google will tell you as much it will tell me  ;)

Why, did someone steal from the exchange? Don't encourage FUD  ::)

the double coin on cancel bug. trade engine was awarding double coins on order cancel. i would tell the reason why it was doing that but it was a complete rookie mistake and i do not want to hurt the person who made the mistakes feeling.

but naturally, when there is a rpoblem like that it takes a while before an honest person to come a long and report it, and by that time the scammers had already raped it.

luckily i was able to cover CGB, LTC, and 42 relatively inexpensively. DOGE on the otherhand has been a bit of a nightmare, and ASR too. the only coins that leaves is BLC and SKC and i can finally put that problem behind us. what really sucks is, i'm solely financially responsible, so if someone on my team makes a mistake or steals something, guess who gets to pay for it.

That problem was fixed. The withdrawals work now. With a decent GPU that gives 1000 MH/S mining on SHA256d, you can make 0.035 BTC / day at the current low price (0.00001 BTC)

I'm an advanced PHP Developer and I've review the github for this project(https://github.com/r3wt/openex). I tried to bring my concerns to the own of this project through 3 or 4 different contact points. He simply erased my messages and blocked my IP from his domain,(if I was a troll I would just change IP and re-register hehe) this is probably because he and his friend have been working on the project since Decemeber and don't realize that they haven't the least bit of experience or understanding of security(Already hacked once) and don't want to have to throw out the codebase.

Since the code is open source anyone can look at the github and see entire revision history. All PHP Web 2.0 applications that are developed today use a PHP Framework, this is almost universal. Now I'm not here to educate you on programming or web design so lets get into it. The main reason a framework is used is because there are many things that websites have in common that developers do not want to write over and over again for each project. Here is an article from 2009(http://www.phpandstuff.com/articles/top-10-reasons-why-you-should-use-a-php-framework) explaining more indepth why frameworks are important and if I was going to trust 1BTC with someone they sure as shit better be using industry standard security and not some little script cooked up in their basement by 2 kids.

Tl;dr: Don't use this exchange unless it is rewritten from scratching using one of these http://www.phpframeworks.com/

2: R3wt  Begs Justin to build him a trade engine because he doesn't know how to.... It looks like R3wt is trying to hide Justin under the name mBlanchard.

Please refresh my memory isn't Justin the same (Cat) R3wt tried to pin the bad code and hack on ?  Yes it is, WTFF !

3: R3wt  Openly admits hes going to build another half ass trade engine Using python he knows nothing about.

Doing more searching  haha https://twitter.com/_LuaPod_ Rewt wants Justins code. Looks like a internal dispute going on.
You know its bad when Justin doesn't even want anything to do with R3wt.
Theres some real f%CKED uped stuff going on here maybe one of you guys can figure it out.....

Make sure you guys spread this on other forums so no one else get screwed on this new pos he cooking up.

Tell me please how do you explain all this Mr. OpenEx employee ? Here is your chance, its a open forum you have the floor sir.

I went to login Openex.pw today and found this Disturbing conversation in chat. I am still Loz.. OOops looks like some one forgot to clear logs...

1: R3wt openly admits to working with former NSA on the new exchange.. WTF if he beleives this hes a moron. Worse yet he would work with a FED!

2: R3wt  Begs Justin to build him a trade engine because he doesn't know how to.... It looks like R3wt is trying to hide Justin under the name mBlanchard.
