Hi everyone, another newbie signing in...

I've ordered my Antminer and I'm hoping to hook it up to some solar equipment I have lying around...

Now all you naysayers; put that in your Bitcoin mining calculator and smoke it :P

How many kw/h on average can you generate with this solar equipment? It all comes down to that, you wouldn't want to be losing power all the time, it would be very bad for your mining stability. Unless you will have it hooked up to mains power as fall-back?

TBH I'm not 100% sure... the 12V battery should run for about 6hrs @ 30A, but the panel is not very big, so it might need an AC backup for a few hours every night, but I'll have to see once I get it set up.

That should work, I had a chat about this awhile ago on the forums, it may take some experimentation but I've been wanting to try this sort of thing, depending on what sort of stuff you have as long as you have electricity running through some place metal it should work. Get some crocodile clips and a standard power supply ( I don't think it even needs to be anything special ) and connect it up to the metal socket where you'd normally slot in the socket and it should work because all you need to do to power something is to just make the electricity flow smoothly through all the metal?

Again, it will probably take experimentation but if you've already got solar equipment you should be able to do it it just depends on how much you can get out of the solar equipment itself and for how long.

Nice, I've seen that before (in a farming context), but I'll take a closer look into the electricity generation equipment... and remember: it ain't stealing if it's open-source =D

P.S. if you're into wind energy, then look into vertical wind turbines, they are apparently a lot more efficient and would have fewer moving parts as it doesn't have to change the direction of the energy by 90^o.

I think I prefer Biomass myself because you can burn it any time any where, whereas with wind your a bit restricted, the thing about the UK weather though is it's pretty much perfect for wind turbines because it's usually just rain and wind we get here :D I'll see what they're like but it may be that those designs cost more because they haven't been around as long depends on all sorts of things really.
