Title: New altcoins - where is any POS one?
Post by: Last1212 on January 07, 2014, 01:15:10 PM
So many new coins and no one has POS... We need a new coin with POS, not only POW! :D

A little bit slow in replaying but cashcoin is POS and POW.
POS kicks in after coins have been in your wallet for 30 days and at the moment POS is worth 10%PA or 0.83% per month if you prefer.
My first POS minting should start tomorrow some time and at the moment the coins are dirt cheap on cryptsy

Why do you want POS? Its a gimmick.

For example a coin that gives you 5% for free, it gives EVERYONE that 5% for free. Basically it means the coin is guaranteed to lose min 5% every year. That 5% is in addition to any goins or losses. So if a coin with 5% POS goes up 17% for example in a year, then without POS it would've gone up 22%.

The idea with cash is that POS slowly replaces POW, so the mining / minting of the coin does not just become the domain of those that can spend thousands on mining rigs like bitcoin is now, but by using POW to start with before ASICs get here it allows the wealth to be spread unlike when NXT was first released.

Thats not correct, the biggest wallets are on exchanges, they are not generating PoS-blocks, pools with separate wallets are not generaing PoS-blocks too, not everyone is wating for PoS-blocks without moving coins out of their wallet, not every wallet is opened for PoS every stake period...etc
The total amount of PoS-generated coins is insignificant compared to PoW even on coins with high ROI such as HoboNickels.

  BlackCoin

Blackcoin is actually better than pure-POS. The initial POW gives a nice distribution among miners, but after a week the mining is over and energy-efficient POS kicks in. I like that idea.

Mintcoin was the first thing that popped into my mind.  It's sill in PoW stage but will be shifting over to PoS in a couple of weeks.

Mintcoin only had 27% generated through POW. Now it's pure POS and the remaining 73% will be generated through energy efficient, environment friendly POS minting. The future of cryptos!

What happens after the other 73% are mined via PoS ???

It will still be secured by coin age but without the minting.
But who knows, its about 40 years in the future, things may change...

We have a large influx of POS cryptos lately.
A lot of people came here and don't have any big mining equipment. The freely or IPO (Do so with caution though) ones are good points of entry for newbies.
Especially the completly free ones.

Informationcoin is one of them. It's about to launch. Maybe you want to check on it.
