Title: NMC holders where you at??
Post by: Dafar on January 07, 2014, 11:32:25 PM
I'm scared of NMC.... bought some at $8.... then some more at $7.50.... then some more at $6.8..... now it's at $5.97!!!! WTF!!

Have I been screwed? I'm definitely one of the "dumb money" getting into NMC without knowing too much about it... but I just wanted to take advantage of the pumps that was going on and increase my BTC holding. Does this coin have anything going for it right now? Do you guys think it will grow in value with BTC and LTC this year?

NMC is definitely a long term hold. Maybe even to hold until it surpasses litecoin in per coin price.

(It has way the heck more hardware securing it than litecoin, I expect... and at some point when all the insecure crapcoins start getting PWNed (assuming any ever get valuable enough to be worth PWNing) people will start to appreciate security. Or when bankers get on board, they understand that security is fundamental...)

Does NMC even have potential to skyrocket like LTC?

For example, it's not ridiculous to assume BTC may go as high as $10k or more... but NMC? No one wants to pay $10k for a domain name.

What determines the price of NMC, is it based on the market cap like BTC? Where do you guys see its real value saturating at? Just want to get an idea

NMC has consistently #3 liquidity in the BTC-E exchange.

1  Bitcoin $ 10,279,858,212 $ 840.34 12,232,975 BTC $ 97,463,322 -5.62 %
2  Ripples $ 2,360,148,917 $ 0.024 99,999,998,168 XRP* $ 79,421 -6.60 %
3  Litecoin $ 604,591,953 $ 24.50 24,681,342 LTC $ 63,328,666 -7.21 %
4  Peercoin $ 126,336,219 $ 6.01 21,026,491 PPC $ 6,170,561 -3.90 %
5  MasterCoin $ 75,231,644 $ 133.59 563,162 MSC* $ 209,895 -18.35 %
6  Namecoin $ 50,306,687 $ 6.53 7,704,592 NMC $ 8,013,423 -6.51 %

Coins that have a high valuation Ripples and Mastercoin really have a fictitious market cap.

Namecoin's volume is actually larger than Peercoin,  now Peercoin is 3 times more valuable?  Trading volume for LTC 6 months ago was like Namecoin is today,  so just wait 3 months and expect a $70 valuation.

In short.... best advise... store the coin elsewhere and .... WAIT.

No no this is great, my lowball buy offers are getting sold to, this is a time for stocking up on NaMeCoins.

Darn it could be better though, evidently I didn't place enough lowball buys down into a low enough range, I ran out of bitcoins along the way and now it looks like all my lowball buy offers have already been eaten because I didn't place enough of them going down into a low enough range. I need some of my highball offers on some coin or other to get snapped up so I can continue placing buy offers for NaMeCoin...
