Title: What to buy with 100$?
Post by: odinhf on January 08, 2014, 11:22:53 PM
I have 2 100$ visa gift cards and I want to know what I can buy with that, I do not really want block erupters again.

Try one or several Antminer U1s. They can be obtained on these forums for around 0.08 BTC each and offer 1.6GH/s hash rate or 2.2 GH/s overclocked.

They have a low power draw, and I advise you to run them on a powered usb hub from a raspberry pi running a tweaked version of CGminer.

IMPORTANT: Do not buy block erupters AT ALL and do not buy the antminers off ebay.

Block erupters now cost more in power than their bitcoin output and the ebay prices for the antminer u1 is double what it is here, even for used ones.

If I only had $100 to spend, I would definitely buy some BTC...

If you are smart, buy bitcoin with your $100. If not, buy a Bitfury Antminer U1.

You could look at the 'Yellowjacket'; it's a 2.2-2.6Gh/s Nanofury variant currently on sale at Hashratestore for $90

They're estimating delivery mid to late January.

Oh no - he's only got $100 and inviting him to pre-order something that has horrible hash-rate - run for the hills ;)

That will get you like a half a gram and maybe a private lap dance - not from personal experience or anything - but from repeated use of Grand theft auto V and careful observation of the movie pulp fiction and also scarface.

Seriously though - I would buy BTC - hold 75% of it which is $150 and would spend the remaining $50 worth of bitcoin on holding alt-coins.  Now if you are feeling adventurous - take .05 BTC and 1/4 of your altcoin holdings and actively trade with them together to bring in your next .2 BTC...repeat.

I would half on LTC and half on a toy (tablet, memory, GPU... *shrugs*)

You're all excited to get $200, and you don't even know how to spend it, when your sig says this:

PM me if you are interested in buying and eBook that shows a method on how to earn +$1000 and +1 BTC per month very easily. It does not involve gambling!

If you're making $1,000 on the side, why is $200 a big deal? LOL  ;D :D ;)

Do yourself a favor and buy 0.2 BTC right now. Your usb miners will be lucky to get that in their lifetime.

Succinct and true, what better advice could you want?

Really, this is starting to get annoying now.

All you people do is try to discourage people from mining.

Has it occured to you that some people are interested in this out of curiosity? Just like designer clothes, a new lampshade, or a bottle of window cleaner, you buy them because they make you feel satisfied or happy or enable you to so.
Buying bitcoins and leaving them in a wallet isn't nearly as satisfying as running your own mining rig, big or small.

You are assuming he is in it for the "satisfaction" rather than ROI. Neither of us know which is the case. Perhaps he should best answer that one.
