Title: CROWD BOUNTY #00000001: Let's fund the creation of a CROWDBOUNTY service
Post by: drakoin on January 09, 2014, 01:12:08 AM
Can you guys help with ideas, perhaps offer some work for bounties?
honestly, I need some funds to develop this project.
Idea: What about a crowdfunding pot. ... where users can donate some coin dust to encourage working on a specific collective goal?
There are already crowdfunding sites, e.g.: coinstarter.co.uk  bitcoinstarter.com coinfunder.com  reddit.com/r/dogestarter - and that's good for developers who beg for funding their own projects. What I had in mind is more a ...

CROWD BOUNTY for (cryptocurrency) IDEA implementation
Let's imagine a new website ~ABC~ (AltcoinBountyCrowd) which brings IDEAS MONEY and TALENT together:

(A) has a good IDEA which she cannot solve herself. So she opens a new BOUNTY account at ~ABC~, and starts defining aspects. A forumpage is automatically created. She tells the community about it, and begs to send money to that account.

(B) are many, and want to contribute to the community. They have only little coindust to donate - but they are many. They send into the BOUNTY accounts of those IDEAs they like to be realized soon

(C) is a gifted programmer/designer/marketingfreak/... - and she likes (A)'s IDEA, and (B)'s BOUNTY. So she starts working on implementing the IDEA.

!

Ready? Vote Pay - NO!
Then comes the date on which (C) says "I am ready", and e.g. publishes an alpha version.
(A) and (B) can vote if that is true. Votes could count in relation to the size of (B)'s contribution?
But: First vote was negative - so a list of remaining TODOs is created. (C) sighs, and goes back to fixing them.
Ready! Vote Pay - YES!
Then (C) can try again, this time she wins that election - and gets the bounty, after e.g. publishing the source code?

Case closed.

Everyone benefits
(A) gets a little share of the bounty for her superb IDEA, and for inspiring the world to start working on it.
(B) will have a new tool to play with, and has helped to make a difference!
(C) can finally go for a holiday to Thailand, to recover from that tough grilling of the last phase :-)
.
.
Some remarks:
  • (A) can be identical with (C) - that would then be like kickstarter. So the CROWDBOUNTY concept actually contains the classical CROWDFUNDING. The main difference arises, however, if (A) and (C) are different parties. Me for example, I have many more ideas and wishes for projects than the time to actually operationalize.
  • There can be several applicants (C) who all want the BOUNTY, especially if it becomes large enough. Competition is good. AND cooperation is good. What's an optimal solution for this?

several possibilities for the money collection
  • As soon as (B) donates, her money is taken, and put into the BOUNTY. For sure the easiest solution. I am using that for this BOUNTY#00000001
  • Only if the BOUNTY reaches a predefined GOAL within a time, the (B)s have to pay. If the total BOUNTY stays below that predefined GOAL, all contributions go back to the (B)s.
  • (B) gives under escrow-protocoll, conditioned on (C) winning that "ready"-vote, and within a limited time.
they can probably also be mixed.

CROWDBOUNTY #00000001: Funding starts now.
If you like this idea, simply donate to the 1st ever CROWDBOUNTY now.
So for this case, I will be (A). I will take a small share out of the total bounty, but how much? Let me sleep about it.
I will not be (C) but I will hold the bounty for her/him/them/you - if you want to be (C).

Do you want to be one of the first (B)s ever ? Then now send to: BTC 19tG4aB4g5s5pve2i6BdK83DqpAzyrM2re (https://blockchain.info/address/19tG4aB4g5s5pve2i6BdK83DqpAzyrM2re)
Standing on your shoulders ... many many useful projects for the community ... might be realized soon!

the bounty org. would have to be trustworthy to many to essentially escrow the bounty funds until the mini-project was complete.

It would be interesting to create a bitcoin kickstarter.  interested to see where this goes.

I would like a site like this to start and I do have an idea I would love to post if it ever comes to fruition. I have a big project in mind but needs like minded peeps and some capital and land but could spearhead a socio econimic revolution and also a great leap in price for Bitcoin. :)

I am not sure if you mentioned it , but it each (B) funder should have voting power proportional to the amount pooled.

This is similar to BitPools (in my signature).

Person A has an idea. They create a Pool with that idea (a forum is created, etc).

People who support the idea join the pool (by pledging some BTC).

Anyone (or just people in the pool) creates a proposal.

If the members like the proposal they vote for it.

If it meets a certain threshold, the proposal passes and the pledged BTC is sent to the proposer to go ahead and fulfill their end of it.

An over-simplified version but you get the point.

My current goal is to be ready in February with the site.

I made a website that is very similar to what you're talking about. It is not about bitcoin ideas but technological or scientific ideas:

http://i-dea.web44.net/

I could make the bitcoin ideas version, if I get enough donation.

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

cool, there are similiar ideas - which means, my idea is good :-)

Donate some dust - or huge sums of BTC -
to the crowdbounty wallet  BTC  19tG4aB4g5s5pve2i6BdK83DqpAzyrM2re
if you want to support the creation of a CROWDBOUNTY website.

Bitcoin Kickstarter in my sig.

SUPER.
It exists.
Very nice.
Congratulations.
How can we help you?

The crowdbounty idea is similar not equal. Both are crowdfunding, but

The person who initiates the CROWDBOUNTY needs not be the receiver of the money.
The initiator just gets a small share of the total bounty, the majority of the money goes to the producer.

With KICKSTARTER those two people are the same. Initiator = Producer.
An initiator has an idea/invention/goal, and later will (continue to) be the producer - because many people funded the project.

With CROWDBOUNTY,
an initiator has an idea, releases it into a wild funding phase - and someone else (who might be more talented in actually DOING things) takes up the role as producer - and gets most of the bounty.

The advantage of the second: The CROWD can already start funding, even though there is not even a producer found, just because the idea is too fricking cool, and will work anyways.

 ;)

One CROWDBOUNTY initiative was successful, by the way:

The Animecoin Block Explorer was created with contributions from ~10 people:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423339.msg4864913#msg4864913

The exact time evolution of the process, I recorded here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423339.msg4865674#msg4865674

It was a very interesting experience. 33 postings it needed!
And someone who believed in it all the way through. Me :-)  And of course ...
... in the end someone came, and wanted that money, and did the work.
Doing the job was then the easiest part, in this case.

An important aspect of crypto-currencies is (not that they make us rich,
but) that it is suddenly very easy to create incentives for cooperation.

And CROWDBOUNTIES are collectively created incentives.

Really curious where all this will lead.
