Title: Need help with a HIS R9 290X
Post by: Vod on January 09, 2014, 04:05:45 AM
I'm mining with GUIMINER 0.04.

When I start, I'm getting around 850kh/sec.  Over time, about one hour, this slowly drops to around 700Kh/sec, where it stays.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Any idea how to solve it?

I am only a hobbyist miner (I made my coins early) so I don't have much experience.

Thanks

Try GUIMiner -scrypt alpha https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=150331.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=150331.0)

GPU overheats or not enough power. Monitor temperature, add powertune +20.

That is not it.  :(

I had this 290X running in my bedroom.  It was very noisy, very hot, and produced 880 khash/sec.

Then I moved it to the basement.  Now it is not noisy, it's not hot, and it produces 700 khash/sec.  Tried 2 different computers.

The only difference is now the miner is running via remote desktop.

I wonder if remote desktop limits graphics resources to the OS so one person cannot monopolize the system?

Anyone have any idea?
