Title: pci-e cards power flow Post by: ajareselde on September 01, 2011, 05:25:00 PM Q:
1. Lets say my 5850`s draw each 170 W. How much power is drained from motherboard, and how many power from extra power cables (2x 6 pin cables at rear) I must bridge more psu-s and need this for calculations. 2. Can u crossfire different card series, ex. 58xx with 69xx etc. thanks Title: Re: pci-e cards power flow Post by: Starcraftman on September 01, 2011, 06:25:03 PM 1. Motherboards should have the ability to supply up to 75W through the pcie slot. I don't know if the mobo will supply that much power if there is external power available from a pcie 6 or 8 pin connector being used, but I would assume that it would prioritize external power over the pcie slot
2. No, but you can crossfire the same generation cards such as a 5870 and a 5830 together. I doubt a configuration like that would work very well for mining though. |
