anyone actually tried PCI to PCI-e converter and works?

because don't seem to see much people using it

is it because cost is too high?

tried to find but seems can't find, only in theory it seems to work

these things cost 30~40 dollars per slot

a normal pcie slot costs 25 dollars
board 60 (4 slots)
cpu 30
ram 10

They can be had for $25. They are useful for adding an extra slot or two to an already existing rig/computer. If you build a rig from scratch, just buy a motherboard with as many slots as you need, that is cheaper.

Yeah, I'd rather put that money towards a new/better motherboard. Seems like a waste to me.
