Man I hope the price goes down when they sell it so I can buy some cheap by then I should be able to figure out how to buy them without getting scammed like yesterday.

I'm keeping an eye on both wallets:

1FfmbHfnpaZjKFvyi1okTjJJusN455paPH
1F1tAaz5x1HUXrCNLbtMDqcw6o5GNn4xqX

I'm not sure if they would/could dump all the coins at once, but if they did how much would it affect the price of bitcoin?  The total between both wallets is around BTC175,000 which is about 1.5% of all bitcoins.  From what I have read there are arguably 20-40% of the total bitcoins out of circulation from early mining, lost bitcoins, and dormant wallets.  If you subtract that from the total it brings the Silk Road bounty up to 2% of all bitcoins.

How you watch the wallets?

I am sure the US Government is in for the money, simply dropping BTC175,000 for nothing is not benefit to them, it doesn't help make the US dollar stronger nor will lower the deficit. It simply could back fire in their face if the plan is to hurt bitcoin.

Seriously ? I will be ready to buy.

Also, would this be a temporary price drop ? Will it take a LONG time to regain the original price if that happens ?

No one knows. But at the way things are right now where the price of bitcoin is keeping at a steady $1000 CAD at MtGox if the price does drop it will eventually; in a week or two; climb back up to $1000 per BTC.

It would just be a great opportunity to buy some cheap coins. The price will recover soon after.

I understand your sentiment but "fungibility" is a very key concept to the success of bitcoins. If we start "marking" coins as being this or that, it would never end. Each coin would have an "audit trail", doesn't bear thinking about. Let's keep it simple. One bitcoin is exactly the same as any other bitcoin, regardless of history.

Where's the source or further details on the Feds selling the seized coins. Surely they wont sell them until the trial is over?

What will the money be used for? Sorry I don't have the time to watch the whole documentary right now but I wonder about that part.
Also I would crap my pants if I'd buy some BTC per bank wire and suddenly get shown government bank account details to send the money to lol.

I think you forget to add the word "deficit" to the end of your sentence :)

Yeah, I think I did lol. Seems kinda fucked they can essentially profit of crimes this way. They should be arrested for money laundering and handling stolen goods.
