Title: Another way of merit begging
Post by: LogitechMouse on May 22, 2018, 10:20:08 AM
I often browse the bounties section and I saw this user "tvplus" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1311641) posting “THE TABLE OF NEW BOUNTIES & AIRDROPS”. I don't see any negativity with that and I know it contributes to the bounty hunters at some points.

Because of what tvplus is doing, he got so many merits that he ranked up to full member because of that "STYLE". Now here is the problem, because many saw that tvplus has ranked up from member to full member thru this, there are some who did the same way too hoping that they will get merits too like tvplus. Here are some of their profiles:

I don't see any negative with this doings I think but I am assuming that they are doing this because they want merits too. I see this as another way of merit begging for me. What are your opinion guys??

P.S. If many see my post as a negative, the admins can delete it :). Anyway this is just my opinion nothing more :)

Even if Tvplus is doing a great job I will never merit him, I was going to do so, but then I stopped when I saw that "he ask for merit", maybe we must report him for begging as well but I don't know...He is doing a good job!
As for the other people if they post in the same order they could be reported for plagiarism, if they post own creations I think they create a kind of spam and I think that nothing is against the rules.

Both of the users' tables explicitly state to give them Merit if they liked it. This is pure Merit begging. Asking for Merit on forum is not tolerated and so should be the case for off-forum websites like google sheets too.
Here is the screenshot from both the tables :

Btw, I encountered another user who is doing this without asking for merit, here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3747612.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3747612.0)

I wouldn't ask for merit myself (lol), but if someone puts a lot of effort into a post, I don't really mind either. If anything, he may raise awareness of the possibility to donate sMerit.

If it's only in a few posts, it shouldn't be a problem:
Do not beg for merit excessively.

I've just reported this one, I think this is too much https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1108802 http://archive.is/TVtEQ

This is what you called "excessive merit begging" in a professional way (I think its professional in some points ;D). Merit beggars are finding another way now to get some merits.
