Title: Why noagendamarket left.
Post by: SomeoneWeird on September 04, 2011, 01:22:11 PM
Ok, people are making alot of assumptions around here about noagendamarket, first off he left the forum voluntarily.

Secondly, people were thinking that nam was Bruce, because he ran bitcoinmedia, that of course, is not the case.

He left the forum and gave over all bitcoinmedias assets to someone else, because he had enough of it all.

That's it. Stop your trolling.

So he expressly asked for his account to be deleted?

Yes.

IMHO, he was a bit of a fool for thinking he can provoke a mass of trolls on Twitter. Trolls and hackers, when in large groups, no matter how unskilled or foolish you think they may be - it's best to "play dead" or ignore them. If you turn it into a battle of egos, the mob's always going to win.

Having said that, some of the shit said about his family members was deplorable. If the trolls are so convinced they have the logical high-ground anyway, why the need for personal attacks and/or threats (well, I suppose threats is a case of tit for tat with NAM, but still)?

noagendamarket was my friend, his name wasn't bruce (although that would have been funny being as he's in Australia), and was an awesome guy.

You say this as if there is some entity controlling the trolls, it's just a bunch of random dudes who are connected by a website, some of them are shitheads, just like in every other place on this earth.  Does one person saying something on this website mean that they speak for everyone or thats how everyone feels?

No, but when one of my friends says something that's out of line, I call them out on it.

There are over 150k users there, not all of them are friends who audit each others responses.

RealSolid=Coinhunters=NoAgendamarket?  Just trying to get everything straight.   I guess what I'm confused about is why the topic says he left the forums, when he's still active as Coinhunters.

Now I'm even more confused.

Eh, maybe the original post came out wrong - I wasn't meaning to tar all of SA over the threats, just merely pointing out I didn't agree with them.

It would have made me feel a whole lot better about the whole thing if someone had responded to the "prize pig contest" comment with something like "how about we leave his family out of it?" but of course I haven't been able to see the GBS thread for a few days now. :(

Ahh okay.  Now what I'm confused about is how that other guy concluded that noagenda=RS/CH on IRC.  Or why he'd suggest it.

He didn't so much face off as harass goons over aim and tweeter until they got annoyed then when they started trolling him.  Just an attention whore who wanted people to focus on him.  Then this...

He's "anonymous" in the thread, was retroactively changed when his account was deleted.

...

The 'bitcoinmedia' talking to 'bitcoinnambla' one was among my favorite of the SA material.  Another favorite was the 'before SA and after SA' graphic of Bruce.  Buttcoin really should publish that one.

SA had it's lockout at a very inopportune time for me.  Some other stuff was just getting very interesting, but I decided not to sign up until they accept BTC.  When the lockout ended I went back to catch up but was disappointed.  Not a huge amount of good stuff in terms of humor and the sub-themes I was interested in went nowhere.

One thing that I did find quite amusing is that interest in the price of BTC is higher on the SA forum than anywhere else except possibly the bitcointalk-speculation page.  Go figure.

Like vultures, they wait for BTC to crash so they can gobble up all the of comedy gold from your E/Ntrails.

The sense of shock and despair on the SA board when the $/BTC ratio increase is palpable.

It's seems like a lot of the SA members are pretty attached to the idea that they are vastly superior intellectually to anyone interested in hedging with Bitcoin and (probably unconscious) sense the difficulty of maintaining that comforting thought in the face of an upswing.  I guess every board has their more pathetic contingent.

What upswing?  All it's been so far is down with no more than 2-3 day minor uptrend, never to break the previous high.  Then it stagnates or crashes again.

The run up into the sixes was like poking an ant hill.  What really seems to get (some) SA people going is when someone makes a purchase in the $10k-$50k-ish.  There are clearly some things which do not compute under the standard SA dogma on Bitcoin and Bitcoiners.

Can't really argue with that.  With the large population on SA there's a wide range of opinions and beliefs.  And of course a fair share of idiots like with any populace.

No, some idiot buying $10k-$50k worth of bitcoins in this market pretty much perfectly fits with our view of people who are interested in bitcoins.

Probably the only idiot who could afford to take such a speculative risk is the kind of idiot who bought silver 9 years ago.  The price had gone down from $50.00/oz to $4.20-ish iirc, so only a real moron would have bought into that market.

I have not really heard any cogent arguments on SA about why there is no theoretical possibility that Bitcoin could not, under the right circumstances, become a sought after item.  But to be fair it is not really their job or area of expertise.
