Back then no one have imagined that 1 Bitcoin will worth $8,000. Also back then getting 10,000 is very easy compare to today. I know it is not a giant pizza chain, if I remembered correctly it is just simple pizza parlor and the owner just accepted bitcoin he think it is still a form of money. Well if he kept that he can build a pizza chain all over his state.

What would you do with all of those coins that are practically worthless and not many people are keen to accept them?

Buy some pizza ofcourse.

At that time nobody predicted that Bitcoin would be as widely successful as it is now, and it simply wouldn’t have been a success if people didn’t hand out Bitcoins like candy in the early years.

BTW... Happy Bitcoin pizza day!!! ;D ;D

I like having left over pizza to nibble on later.  You can make the pizza yourself and bring it to my house or order it for me from a delivery place, but what I'm aiming for is getting food delivered in exchange for bitcoins where I don't have to order or prepare it myself, kind of like ordering a 'breakfast platter' at a hotel or something, they just bring you something to eat and you're happy!

Outstanding achievement for bitcoin. Which was originally only a portion of pizza, now worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
I think people who hate bitcoin need to see this, so they know there are still many people out there who appreciate how important bitcoin is.

Actually, I posted a meme about this in my Fb wall last Monday (just saying) and there is something I am really curious about, what happened to the seller of pizza? Did he hold his btc and became a millionaire or just forget about it since btc was small in value that time? Anyway, this story never fails me to amaze and laugh at the same time every time I hear it because who would imagine that a 2 pizza worth of btc before grew and now a huge treasure.

In 2010, a programmer traded 10,000 bitcoins for two Papa John's pizzas, those coins would be worth more than $80 million.hence celebrated has Bitcoin Pizza day.

Eight years ago, on May 22, 2010, a programmer purchased two large Papa John’s pizzas for 10,000 bitcoins, worth about $30 at the time. It’s widely believed to be the first purchase of a product with bitcoin, proving the then-nascent cryptocurrency’s potential as a means of payment.
Bitcoin was less than two years old when Laszlo Hanyecz decided to spend some of the coins he had mined on some real-world goods. The coins were worth just a fraction of a cent at the time, and no merchant accepted them as a means of payment.

it's not once worth 10K bitcoin at that time, if the pizza guy bought it with 10K bitcoin then the pizza guy keep it up to now, maybe the pizza guy now does not sell the pizza anymore
because it is very rich with there is 10K bitcoin

This is worth noting. Only seven years ago the price of bitcoin has skyrocketed to the present price of over $8K. I know the dude who bought a pizza with a Bitcoin worth 10,000 will be very critical of himself and will blame lack of patience.

Must people never heard of  Laszlo Hanyecz the guy who bought 2 🍕 pizza with 10k BTC  at Papa John's restaurant.
To these new to Crypto may see what this guy did as stupidity, but forgotten that, just as you're using your  bitcoin for daily needs, that's exactly how it is then.

Fact: Laszlo Hanyecz It’s one of the best-known cryptocurrency legends: The guy who bought two pizzas with 10,000 Bitcoin back in 2010 to prove the digital currency worked.

It wasn't like that. It was a guy on this forum sending someone 10k BTC in exchange for them ordering him 2 pizzas with their credit card online from Papa Johns. So the question is whether the other guy on this forum kept them. Probably not, lol. You never know though!

That was a really important event though. That was from what I remember one of the first pieces of news that spread out around slashdot and such. The idea that someone actually purchased something with BTC was novel at the time.

Well, we should also mention the appreciation for the Pizza buyer as Bitcoin is valuable today just because the early adopters decided to spend it and use it as a payment system instead of focusing on holding and speculation. We should take this responsibility today to do the same and contribute to the growth of it. As of now, Bitcoin is highly used on the websites accepting cryptocurrencies but there are not many merchants in the offline markets accepting Bitcoin around the world.

the story begin when a progammer named Laszlo Hanyecz, offering 10,000 bitcoins to anyone who wanted to buy two pizzas.
at that time bitcoin prices are still in the USD 0008 figure, while now the price has reached USD 7900. imagine if the conversion with the current bitcoin price, the price of pizza as the first bitcoin using transactions in the world at that time was USD 79 million.

I hope that pizza shop is a multi millionaire now. But the question is , did they save the private keys. Or else 10k BTC is lost forever.
I have often wondered why history and documentations are silent on the shop that purchase was made. And this is not fair to the guy who made that 10,000btc exchange if the spotlight is going to be on him alone. It will make many cast aspersions on the dude as being stupid and then believe the buyer is lucky and smarter for that exchange. We can't really be sure the shop still has the bitcoin intact. Researchers should find out what eventually happened. I am curious on this.

I feel lots of regret everytime I heard a story like this.
Why would you feel any pang of regret when the story told isn't even yours in the first place. Are you always that mushy mushy? I bet you aren't a trader. It takes an emotionless state of mind to place a trade.

On this day in 2010, Florida-based programmer and early cryptocurrency enthusiast Laszlo Hanyecz enshrined his name in bitcoin lore by paying someone 10,000 bitcoins to order him two pizzas from his local Papa John’s restaurant. The purchase is believed to have been the first time that bitcoin was used in a real-world transaction. Today, those coins are worth nearly $82 million.

he is Laszio hanyecz, buy pizza from papa john's pizza. the interesting is that he buys pizza for 10,000 BTC. whereas the price of 2 servings of pizza does not reach $ 25.

if we calculate the price of BTC today, then the price of pizza equal to 1.2 trillion. and that is the first bitcoin transaction. but also that events will cause regret.

This is the history of bitcoin and pizza that everyone treats it as an inspiration where bitcoin becomes valuable. A billionaire and definitely buy pizza and use bitcoin sure that bitcoin sales are now not They know that bitcoin prices now so buy bitcoin while it's still relatively cheap and hold for years and they just bring you something to eat. :)

That's 8 years ago, is it not?

But happy pizza day anyway!  That was a true milestone in bitcoin, and if I were the guy who bought that pizza I would still be kicking myself for not holding onto those coins.  There's no way he could possibly have known how much bitcoin would be worth, and I get that, but MAN....hopefully he had mined way more than just that 10,000BTC and saved them.

Things move so fast in the world of bitcoin.  It's crazy to think that a guy was having a hard time figuring out how to spend 10 thousand bitcoins just for a pizza, and that wasn't even 10 years ago.  Crazy!

Not necessarily you can claim that the initial trade of ten thousand bitcoin pizza transactions made by the seller made him a multi millionaire, i am sure he must have sold all or most of his coins a long time ago and since this is the initial transaction being used to purchase an item in the history of bitcoin we can make that assumption, many have lost their private keys and it was a common situation in the initial phase .

Happy Bitcoin pizza day everyone !  ;D
Exactly seven years ago, on May 22nd 2010, a man paid 10000 BTC for a pizza First ever purchase with Bitcoin!  ::)  ::)

Was the pizzeria establishment itself accepted the bitcoin or did he locally traded it with a person who bought pizza for him? Imagine his reactions now if he only knew bitcoin's value would increase this much he would've put the pizza in a glass display preserved for ever haha.

A lot of people sold their bitcoins for very low price in the early times. They supposed that Bitcoin will fall.

I heard that the pizza day is already past a few months ago. The guy who spent 10K BTC and bought two pizzas made a photo with his children and the new two pizzas bought using the technology Lightning Network.

If you not use your bitcoin until today and you decide to sell it today or next coming  days you now a millionaire. Many people are sad and cried because they did not give importance bitcoin when the price is very cheap.

Yeah that funny guy. Bitcoin was worth much much less than it is today so you cannot blame the guy but it's really painful to see how much it is worth today if you visit coinmarketcap.

Of course its regrettable how much bitcoin is worth today and the guy has sold tons of it back in the days. But he became a legend in the crypto world. And he buying pizza was a great publicity stunt back then and I'm sure that its really one success factor that's why bitcoin literally take offs after his he did so its part and parcel and we have to thank him for doing that.

It's been seven years since the time passed. I can only sigh that the encrypted world is developing too fast. It was seven years ago that we had to pay 10000 bitcoins to a pizza. Today our community has developed very much, although it may be a difficult year this year, but I still believe in the strength of the bitcoin.

I would like to congratulate this man in live, who gave 10,000 bitcoins for a pizza. Perhaps he still remembers this incident with a note of sadness.

This is a great initiative, using BTC for physical purchases!
Because BTC was rarely used at the time, the pizza shop that Bitcoin paid for was still a risky act.

It's a day worth remembering and I hope the pizza seller keep the Bitcoin till it exploded and for the buyer it's not a thing to regret it's a record and I believe the person is getting firm despite is in a bad way. I believe more victims are on the way because those who dump now will definitely regret it on a very good day in the nearest future.

Of course you can not regret something, but the idea that Lorenzo gave nothing worthless set of units and zeros for two pizzas, and after a while he saw how much it costs, more than once gave him reason to regret his action. Especially since bitcoin was growing wavy and after every record flight, this guy probably wanted to jump off the bridge))) By the way, I wonder what is now with him and what he does for living ...
