So after browsing the forums for a little while and seeing all of the alt cryptocurrencies out there, I am wondering, with all of the Coingen crappers, pump and dump coins, and failcoins out there, which ones do you all still favor and see as a big player for this year? Feel free to post whatever coin you want, if I come across a new one I will add it to my list and probably make a poll with everyone listed for you guys to vote on. Thoughts?

Today it's easier to create a new one than choose a favourite.

I enjoy quark for the community. I think it has a potential, but much less than what the community thinks.  
For speculation, I think frozen is on its way.

Well the ones that look to be in the best shape would probably be my favorite just because they would be a wiser investment. Now there is more competition in those that are in better shape because the rewards and chances for sustainability is that much greater so I would probably say BTC and LTC although Dogecoin has shown very small but steady growth.

So I will answer this two prong from investment and minning.

Investment: I would say in an investment stand BTC and LTC would be the two best coins to buy into and hold for possible raise in money.

Miner: I would say LTC and other scripts like Dogecoin would be good to mine as the value of building a miner right now is better and the longevity of a rig is greater here because the market isn't flooded yet with the big Hashers like SAH-256 aka the format that BTC uses.

I really like PrimeCoin. I love the idea that even if my mining isn't producing many coins (Or any really) I am still helping the scientific community by searching for prime numbers. Just seems cool to me.

Yeah Killua, I agree that there are two aspects that need to be looked at. One side being the ability to make money with a stable and community backed coin versus a coin that the average Joe has the ability to mine and be involved with.

Being able to make your own coin is just a joke at this point, as I've seen everyone state many times over already, I.E. http://coingen.bluematt.me/status.html

Pay Mark Corallo a few bucks and bam theres your own clonecoin with whatever name you want. Those are excluded in my book even if you want to count those in the category with which you can actively mine on your own and be involved with.

My least favorite is BTC: too inflated right now. We need to move away from the one coin standard. The more healthy coins there are, the better the entire cryptonetwork will be.

That megacoin will skyrocket. Mark my words. Kimoto invented the gravity well. Where would we be without gravity? Floating into space. Think about it.

These all have that extra something others don't ltc/btc are standards, megacoin has the meganame and megaservices coming in 2014. Dogecoin is very currency much mainstream.

Unobtanium is just the coolest name for anything ever.

RonPaulCoin has my pick for best name, best ideological coin... but... the dev is screwy, the difficulty is out of whack.

Dogecoin because of the enthusiasm... its a joke that may actually take off and from what I have heard it was made with the same structure as Litecoin.

I would love to see coinye take off, just because Kanye tried to stop it. I think it would be funny if his actions of trying to stop it actually caused such a hype that it became popular. I would like to see it start trading soon just to see what happens.

Apart from coinye i like dogecoin, it seems to be popular and is traded a bit ore than some other alt currencies, plus there are a few faucets and alot of talk about it.

Healthy coins?
Btc is too inflated?

Have you ever looked at the graphs ? All the coins follow BTC , when the BTC hype was tempered in May most clone coins went to hibernation , when bitcoin resumed it's growth in December alts started popping again.
Healthy?  Make a list of the shops accepting alternate coins. Tell me if you reach the second page while I can finish a book doing the same for bitcoin.

There are no alts , only clone coins with wet dreams supporters.

Franko is my favorite, active dev team, the lead dev is a member of 2 chamber of commerce and holds workshops with business owners, they key added kimoto gravity well. Things are looking up the highest for FRK.

QRK, LTC  and doge - communities are the key factor.... everything else means nothing.

BTC will stay king for a good time.
