Title: Importing a wallet.dat File From a Mac to a Windows Computer
Post by: SilverandBitcoins on January 15, 2014, 03:12:02 AM
I had an Apple notebook computer back in April/May and installed Bitcoin QT on it but never got around to syncing the whole blockchain.  I may have experimentally sent a small amount of BTC to that wallet and have since given the computer to a relative who copied the wallet.dat file for me.  Can I import that Wallet.dat into the Bitcoin QT program I have on my Windows 7 comuter?  If there is nothing in the wallet, can I then remove the wallet.dat file that was on the Mac and then put the original wallet.dat file back into the QT program on the Windows 7 computer?

Yes, just make bitcoin-qt is closed and replace wallet.dat in C:\Users\"your username here"\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin\.  Make sure you save the wallet which is already there.  If you want to switch back you can just swap the files again.

P.S.  You need to show hidden folders in order to get to the Bitcoin folder.  Just search "folder options" in the start menu and check the box labeled "show hidden folders".

You have to toggle "Show Hidden Files and Folders (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/show-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-vista/)" then you can find that wallet.dat file at "
C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin"

@OP You can manually copy & paste the wallet.dat file from mac data directory (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory#Mac) and replace the file on your windows computer.

You're looking at the program files, which contains the client only. Go to the search bar and type %appdata%. This should bring you to many folders, you should be able to see Bitcoin. Open the folder and place the wallet.dat inside.

Navigation bar rather than search bar.
