You want to trade BTC for other currencies or mine? I'd just hold the BTC or you could lose it all. Too many scam and crapcoins about.

Mine and trade them for BTC

The best strategy would indeed be to mine altcoins and trade them for BTC while the hype is still going.
Some coins won't get you anything, while other coins may get you a more than decent amount of BTC for the time spent mining.
Obviously it's quite a risky strategy (losing time and money on mining), but risk is inevitable when you're looking for profit.
Holding on to the BTC you already have and the BTC you're going to earn is the way to go in the long way IMO.

I THINK THE BEST WAY IS TO WATCH THE EXCH AND SEE WHATS MAKING THE MOST DO A FEW TRADES AND SEE IF YOU CAN DOUBLE YOUR COINS I DOUBLED MY LITE COINS IN A DAY BY TRADING BETWEEN OTHER COINS BE CAREFUL THOUGH AS YOU COULD ALSO MAKE SOME BAD TRADES

start mining a relativity new altcoin.  such as piratecoin.  then once they are on an exchange sell for a good profit.  mined sexoin with 4 7950's for a month and a half and when price went up sold it and made almost $11000.
otherwise mine and trade for btc.  this is not a get rich quick scheme.  its about research and luck.  you need to support the community with the coin you choose

As said before, start with the small alt coins and trade up the good ones. Try to gauge coins before release which have:

-good qualities that set them apart from other alts

-have a buzz or hype around them (or community spirit)

-have a trustworthy dev team i.e. don't waste your time with scamcoins and pump n dumps

0.04 btc isnt much for a loss.  the best way to make up for a loss, is to buy and go for the long.  however, you need to know a really good judgement on which investment will be worthwhile on the long run.  i have a few recommendation, and are widely based in the following article.

hope this helps, and merry trading.
