Title: Lets start rally!
Post by: bitcoinTrader on September 06, 2011, 06:55:08 AM
Hi All,

Lets reverse the downtrend and start the rally.
Please remove all your asks and then see the price go up :)

Why prolong the correction? I'd rather have a total collapse so we can settle on a sustainable price first. Let all the people who thought they'd become millionaires overnight sell.

Someone bought 2500 coins from 7.50-7.60 about 8 hours ago and the price didn't go up at all except for his bid, then it fell and fell.  Lots of miners are quitting.

Let's all put in high bids and push up the price!

Is good, is fun!  Turn large fortune into small fortune.

There wouldn't be many people left on this forum.

This is pointless. It's good for the price to find a true low this time, before that happens there won't be a real rally of any kind. I have the bottom at $6.x as a 50% event, bottom at $5.x as a 48% event and bottom at below $5 as a 2% event. These are not numbers based on any data analysis btw, just my personal view of the situation.

Who says there's a bottom? Someone bought a pizza for 40000BTC way back.

I am glad I got caught in traffic this morning. I was going to buy at 6.6. I got in at 6.18.

But I think there will be another dip this afternoon, then a correction up close to 8.

How's your speculation working out for you? I assume you're one of those who like to pretend they haven't lost anything as long as they don't sell?

I'm not a trader, I'm in it for the long term. I've recently just made one move of selling and buying back. Bought back too early but still made a good amount of coins doing that. Now I'm simply waiting for the price to bottom and stabilize, which should be fairly soon at this rate.

Other than that it's fairly pointless to think about losing or winning if you have a long term investment. Right now I'm "down" but it's irrelevant, what the price is 6 months from now or 6 months after that is what I'm really interested in.

I won't be laughing but I won't be crying either. Haven't invested anything that I can't afford to lose. That's especially important in such a high-risk venture.

Bitcoin is all about trust.

Bitcoin isn't hacked until now. There's lots of money involved but it still proofed to be safe.
If you trust it, you buy them.
You buy them, Bitcoin goes up... It's simple ;)

(...) bottom at below $5 as a 2% event. (...)

And now I want to see 49 of your predictions of this kind that go the other way. :P

Actually, I want to point out something else: it's unreasonable to provide exact numbers, this must fail if you think about it. Provide infima/suprema, like "I claim event X no more likely than Y". That's the kind of thing you can create a bet on instantly. And thus, that's what is required for speculation.

Why sell low?

Because we'll be able to buy more, lower.  Yeah, waiting for the spike has hosed me the last 2 weeks, but hey.  That just means I'm one of the "holding for the long term" crowd now desperately hoping to dump into the first rally to come along.

Got my sells staggered all the way up to 9.  Come on bulls, get a second mortgage or something!

So the price again stagnated.
And the volume is low too.

Last Price: 4.86633High:4.93Low: 4.75001Volume: 19615Weighted Avg: 4.8388

But the price hasnt gone down too much after that low dip which it took.

Time for a rally :)

There is a possibility of a rally if a huge publication carries a glowing story on bitcoin.  Who knows, maybe one of their reporters may have nothing else to write and am looking for something.

Title: Re: Lets start rally!
Post by: bitcoinTrader on September 17, 2011, 01:37:50 PM

The market is trading in small range for quite sometime now.
High:4.93 - Low: 4.75001 == ~0.18$

Looking at past history, there is a big movement coming, may be up or down, but there should be movement coming.

P.S. Down movement has higher probability than rally :( (though would be more happy with rally than down movement)

Someone (or group of someones) was keen to bid the price up today.  $4.80 to $5.60 spike was quite impressive.  Didn't have any support however, as we're already half way back to $4.80 after only 5 hours.  Still, not all bad.  Quite a few of my Asks were executed  ;)

It makes me wonder whether we're looking at the actions of a few individuals trying to boost the price so they can sell high, or whether it's an organic movement of a few buyers and everyone else piling in because the price is going up.

I watched it on mtgoxlive. There was some individual adding and removing 6k btc to/from the buy wall in quick succession this went on until he got bitten then the price collapsed.

It's just cute when going back to $6 is called a rally. More like a slight recovery that will last until the optimists run out of money again.

At that time they will plot the 'rally' on a log graph and state it's still happening  ;)

Bumpy ride is true alright.  Price is gyrating between $6.20 and $6.70 right now.  Most of my Asks have been executed so now it's time for the rally to tank and execute my new Bids.  Rinse, repeat  :D

The asks may mostly be fake, but no one denies that they have an effect on the price... and mtgoxlive is showing $100k needed to get where we were JUST A DAY AGO :( ($6.8)

Title: Re: Lets start rally!
Post by: Technomage on September 21, 2011, 06:38:31 PM
I wouldn't worry about the number, $100k is actually not much. When it's over $200k in the visible range @ Mt. Gox Live, then I consider it something.

Bitcoin currency trade is big enough that there are many players involved who could buy the entire $100k worth or a significant portion of it. That's not the issue. The issue is that they're trying to buy coins as cheap as possible to profit as much as they can, and they won't commit to a significant buy until there are signs of a rally.

So just wait, when the rally comes again I'm quite confident that $100k worth of coins and much more will be eaten.

Right now there are only $44000 worth of coins standing between the current price of $5.3 and $6. The big wall comes at $7, which I consider mostly a signal of resistance, not a real wall. But we'll see.
