I am simply devastated. I cannot express how I feel and I make appeal to anyone that could help.

I was an early adopter of bitcoin, and mined somewhat 80,000. I never had much wealth in my life and at about $2 I sold some coins. Then did the same, at $5 and at $15.
As many people counseled, I've made a new wallet and deposited 21,000 BTC, 0,001% of the total bitcoins that can be created, a. I also had 2 more wallets with aprox. 3800 and one
with about 200 which I used on a daily basis.

I am using linux and 2 Windows VMs and did backups regularly on a thumbrdive. But somehow, this was not enough for the ordeal that came onto me...

I believe that using my home Wifi, an attacker has stolen my wallets and some personal data. One day, when I wanted to pay I fired up my Windows VM and after
some minutes all of my bitcoins were gone. I had panicked and started to check my ~/.bitcoin. The wallet.dat was missing. I immediately replaced it and fired up the bitcoin client but, to my surprise, no bitcoins there also.

I am devastated, all of my financial hopes where in there. I beg your expertise to help me, find the one who one who did this and hopefully get my money back.
I would like to ask all exchangers, all merchants to help me. If some of you are computer-proficient, I can give you access to my computer, even to my home.

I am determined to go to the police and involve any governmental institution I can in this. I talked to my lawyer but since bitcoin isn't legally regulated he said it will be very hard to prove that money were stolen. Either way, the thief can be sued for breaking in my computer and stealing data.

In the process I have lost some e-mail accounts, other accounts on various websites (bitcoin forum also) and credit card data. Some of them I managed to recover but some not...

Please help me!

if they are gone they are gone. I feel sorry for you but I doubt there's anything anyone can do.

what was the wallet address would be a good start point

What version of Windows were your VM's and were they regularly updated with Windows Update?
What security existed on your home network? Were you using WEP or WPA?
Also, a list of your bitcoin address's would be helpful for anyone to track their usage through the blockchain.

sounds kinda like that old story 2 months back... a guy lost 35,000 or so bitcoins... turns out he just wanted donations. Anyways if you know linux... then you should be able to know your address and also know how to read bitexplorer. Considering you made this account today... yea, uh huh... nice story bro.

Who are you OP ?

To invest in Bitcoins you have to at least know a bit of Python or C.  That way you can print out a paper wallet.  A non networked Linux computer is the next best option.

OP, was your wallet.dat in it's default location?

well at least try to report it like this.. Do you remember that guy a while back who lost xx,000 of bitcoins? it was the same story... using linux... using windows vm... did regular backups.... lost a bit of coins.. blamed hackers... ended if he created the whole story for donations... I heard he got quite a bit of bitcoins that way. Beggars~ hmmmf well we are trying to say report it like this...

this could explain the huge sell off in the last couple days.

Where was it ever proven that allinvain just wanted donations?

A drive by wifi wallet snipe is quite unlikely.  Also a guy who creates an account posts this a few minutes later and then leaves the forums makes it even less likely.
