most probably not
it actually depends on stuff

In my life I have 2 things I would give my life for
1.For my country
2.For my family

And if bitcoin was the only thing keeping my family alive then yes, but like this I think no but we can never be sure :)

Strange question, I certainly would not give my life for any concept.

No I wouldn't.... why would I bring such pain to my family and loved ones? It's not even like I'm giving my life to save someone else's life

you giving your life to save it

giving life ... but for dead, for prison, for justice process ( ;D ) ... ?
It's like you give your life for P2P ... it's a piece of all life now (skype is P2P, file sharing is P2P, bitcoin is P2P).

Wouldn't it be better, if you plan to open a new thread, to post something useful?

1.For my country

Why? You like made up lines on maps? Accidental history? Tribalism?

Life is the only thing worth giving your life for - and the irony of that fact is wasted on all of us.

But seriously, this question could be re-written as "are you a Bitcoin extremist/fanatic?"

Not for bitcoin, but I'd fight for the freedom to use stuff like bitcoin.

Bitcoin is just the first great application of cryptography+P2P and it's hardly used yet. Decentralized money is just the first step to a decentralized goverment. Stuff like bitcoin will give us, the people, back the -cracy in democracy. (lat. dêmos=people;kratos=power).

No. And if it bitcoin succeeds it will be a result of mainstream adaptation. Meaning not killed by government.

Worth noting that people had these same notions about the interwebs, that the gov would seize it because too dangerous for sheeple to know things. But sheeple keep being sheeple because it's what they are. Makes no difference. Bitcoin same. The sheeple will like it the banks/corps will pwn it and the gov will tax it. Exactly as they've done with the wild wild interwebs.

So it is a silly question but it gave me this...

I am going to auction a kidney for bitcoins. I have two and they are in good shape, and I am not afraid of a little surgery.

If you know any buyers, holla. I am blood type A+ if that helps.

I'll sign a waiver if need be. And even if your kidneys are good now we could contract out on a lease, or take it now and deep freeze it somewhere til you need it.

Thanks for the idea OP.

No. But I would give up my country.

I would to if it was  a constitutional republic with liberty for all individuals but that country does not exist on this earth. So no I would not die for for a corrupt freedom hating tyrannical country.

Bit coin if it had a chance to give freedom maybe but there is no need if bitcion gets killed some way there are 1000 other even better protocalls to take over and we can make it better next time if need be so no need to die.

Lets try to use this chance to get the regulation loving people out of our lives once and for all. I would love to see a reversal of tyranny in the right direction before i depart this earth.

I belive that bitcoin and the whole crypto+P2P innovations are nessasary, but not sufficient inventions for such utopia.

F.e. fiat money would be a great monetary system far better than bitcoin if some interrest groups hadn't been able to change the rules to their own egoistic benefits. Power has to be directly in the hands of the people (not given individuals like a gov) for not getting abused for a few individuals. Since recently no people weren't able to handle that power for themselves, but bitcoin is the first innovation that allows a group of people to have power without requireing a goverment.

There is no bitcoin goverment and those great people currently working at it are 100% replace- & removeable at no cost. That's how a gov has to be for that utopia.

Look up the history of the US most of the early leaders where against any centralized banks and hundreds of competing currencies. They knew from early history how evil centralization is even in rome with no paper money. Even the population is evil if you let them vote they will vote the treasury in bankruptcy the solution was a republic to stop that which now we know failed.

Decentralization is the solution but it's going to be a long long road and I wont live long enough to see real freedom.

Interesting (PDF) (http://www.freeyourmindaz.com/uploads/1/2/8/3/12830241/the-most-dangerous-superstition-larken-rose-2011.pdf).

Am going to continue reading, seems very interesting indeed. But I must quote:

Quote
Flip through any history book and you will see that most of the injustice and destruction that has occurred throughout the world was not the result of people “breaking the law,” but rather the result of people obeying and enforcing the “laws” of various “governments.”

Wow. Certainly a different way to think if it. Mind somewhat blown just by that alone

A very good question as there are millions who are asking the same. Found this one interesting.

NOFIATCOIN–XNF; A new digital currency backed by actual bullion!

There is a new digital currency NoFiatCoin | XNF (http://www.nofiatcoin.com) that can be redeemed for actual gold and silver coins, is out in the market which indeed is a first digital currency backed by bullion. NOFIATCOIN–XNF has already created a buzz in the digital currency market place and I am quite excited about it. Currency is traded on Ripple network which is the fastest and robust currency network.

Problem is the guy or organization can run legit for 10 years and one day all the bullion is lost you have to put your trust in the central authority who has the bullion what if the feds march in like they did with that guy with silver coins I forgot his name took all the coins and put him in jail (I'm not for that by the way I want millions od competing curencies) I just see a the problem here is who's got the bulion that's all and  I might be wrong

What China does is kind of ban only

Ebay bans bitcoin does not mean US bans bitcoin, the same applies to Taobao bans bitcoin in China.

I could cheat and say that I'd be okay with Bitcoin dying because the idea and concept of the protocol would still exist.

But I'll try to drive at the heart of your question with an analogous question: Would I die for the sake of a revolution? Yes.

Then again, to be even more precise: Would I die for the sake of this revolution? No. It's not really that much of a revolution. I don't think that BTC will bring economic equality as much as others. So there ya go...
