Hi Acejam, I was testing your pool last night and my btc wallet address is 1Pcbp3KBsJuSqNCJBgqtUMXe6UjRhHB8f. I was hashing at well over 1THS for several hours but kept seeing the expected share and block times fluctuating back and forth, up and down. And I had no indication whether my work was going to be credited to me at any point, so I stopped mining there. Can you tell me whether or not my work will still be credited? I believe I was mining there for about 6-8 hours or so. Thanks for your time and considerate reply. Cheers, Gil...

Only if you got a share.  It works exactly like www.nogleg.com/doge.log (http://www.nogleg.com/doge.log), look at the share difficulties, scan for 'GOT SHARE', etc.

I really have no idea if 1TH on the p2pool network is a lot nowadays or not.  You could possibly not have gotten any shares, though...

no-submit-stale isn't a great idea, since there's still some chance that that stale could solve a block (or be a valid p2pool share)

I've been mining in this pool to test how it works. I was getting some shares, until sometime today. Even though I've mining with an avg of 47-48 Gh/s for more than a week, I am now showing "no shares yet" as predicted payout. I don't remember seen that except for the first couple of hours after I started mining. Is that normal?

P2Pool.io was recommended on Reddit earlier today. Hashrate is increasing :)

0.00 H/s   0.00%   no shares yet

There were no blocks between 11:44 and 12:04.
So, those stats are fishy.

@m3ta

See my previous post, #8 on this thread. That's why I switched to other p2pool. I would suggest you to look @ http://p2pool-nodes.info/ for a pool with 0% fee and low latency and confirm that you also have low latency against it (e.g. ping response lower than 200ms) and use that one.

My apologies - I was just trying to help a fellow user save 2.5%.

no worries we are just trying to save the planet, as stated once we can buy more goats we will drop the fee :D

Thank you so much for providing this service; great work.

Quick question: Currently, the "node uptime" is 2 hours and 20 minutes. Did the service go down 2 hours and 20 minutes ago, and if so, why didn't the load balancing keep the service up and running?

Thanks again for providing such an easy way for miners to join p2pool.

Great catch!

I recently updated the P2Pool software of each server in the cluster. Previously our uptime was 50+ days on most servers. However, that also means those servers were running code that was more than 50 days old. One-by-one, each server was taken out of the load balancer pool, updated, tested, and then put back in. I can assure you there was no downtime during this process.

The stats on the pool homepage are combined stats. However the "Node Uptime" value is not combined. Otherwise, if the entire cluster was up for 7 days, that value would read 7 days x the number of servers. Perhaps I can add support in for this to take an average value?

Thanks so much for the explanation. One quick follow up: The displayed graph shows that the hashrate fell to zero. How does that comport with there being no downtime during the upgrade?

The node operator didn't answer this so I will, p2pool issues pseudo shares.  Those shares are purely for keeping track of your hash rate and making graphs look pretty.  To get a payout from p2pool, you need to enter the p2pool sharechain which works like the btc blockchain.  The minimum difficulty share to get into the sharechain for the past month at least has been over 1m.  Actually as I'm writing this post, the current difficulty to get into the sharechain 1,197,521.57.  if you go to p2pool.io and look @ share difficulty it'll tell you what you miner needs to submit at any moment to get into the sharechain as it updates with each share that's added to keep the sharetime at 30 seconds.  So based on what I saw here, if you log showed 1.2M/1000 BAJ 0 then I'd be a little concerned, but like the bitcoin share chain, latency can play a role too. If you submit a share a second too late or the pool decides to orphan your share for another submitted at the same time, that could cause you to also be showing now shares yet.  If you look at the stats page at p2pool.io and find your address, you want your DOA% to be at or below the global pools DOA%, because that'll decrease your chances of submitting a dead share.  I hope this helped explain this.

Come mine with us @ p2pool.io today!

Hey Acejam, thanks for all your hard work! I've been in the pool for a day or so, and I understand (somewhat) how the payouts work, at least well enough to know to be patient. I did, however, notice that the predicted payout for me seems to fluctuate up & down. Is there a reason for that, or am I just misinterpreting? Thanks again.

Edit: I suppose the better question would be, is it worth it for me to mine via P2Pool with 1.6 TH, or even 2.6 TH? Open to any help/suggestions.

Thanks AceJam! I appreciate your response.  Based on your recommendations, and others, I've decided to P2Pool mine to a node a bit closer to me physically.

Servers down?
Back-end seems dead and front-end report the following

Code:
502 Bad Gateway

Back online but...

Code:
LOST CONTACT WITH BITCOIND for 24.3 minutes! Check that it isn't frozen or dead!

Any update about those issue?

Thanks for the feedback, always good to understand what happens behind the scene :)

I confirm that not long after I reported the issue, everything was running smoothly again.

Been mining for 1 hour. I was wondering when I will get my first share? I haven't got any yet and I've been mining at over 400 Gh/s.

My bitcoin address is 1HadesyB4PPFWPzVtrkMPsEGes4pWK36sk (Yes, I used VanityGen :P)

Please could you tell me when my first share will be?

2 TH takes about 3 hours per share on average. So if you are at 1/5 that, I'm guessing you'll get about 1 share every 15 hours or so. Keep in mind shares last a while, so the startup time where you have no shares is offset by the time after you get shares but eventually stop mining, you'll still be getting paid on any blocks found before those shares expire.

Been waiting an hour for p2pool stats to update on the site but they haven't. Is there something wrong? I've increased my GH/s to 1 Th/s around that.
