Title: CampBX - Where's my money?? Official USPS document shows they have my $1,000...
Post by: colinistheman on January 19, 2014, 12:14:09 PM
I am currently having a bad experience with CampBX.

I sent them a $1000 money order on December 19, 2013.  To this date (Jan 19, 2014) I still do not have my $1000.

I have been in touch with CampBX customer service for over 2 weeks now. They keep asking me to "wait one more week" over and over.

Then they told me to get a USPS trace (at my $5.25 expense) and they would take care of it. So I paid to do a USPS trace on the money order and the USPS mailed me a scanned copy of the Money Order showing it was deposited by Bulbul Investments (campbx) on December 23rd, 2013.

Still no money credited to my account.  I'm being asked to wait again.

I have all the proof needed: a tracking number showing delivery and with signature confirmation, and a USPS scanned trace showing Bulbul Investments deposited it.

I don't know what to do and I am at the mercy of their customer support which keeps giving me delays and telling me to wait.

I highly recommend you do not send CampBX any money unless you want to lose it.

For the record, I have sent campbx several money orders in the past and all has been fine. But this instance shows that you are gambling with losing your money if you send it to them.

I will post an update to this depending on how they handle it. If I get my money back I will let you know, but so far it has been many weeks and nothing. The sheer headache and stress is not worth it.

I had a problem with them as well after things being fine with them for several months. I implore others to stop sending them money because you think it can't happen to you. It happened to me and then it happened to the OP. Legally your only recourse is to sue them in small claims court in Georgia (this is not legal advice). If you live nearby it might be worth it but if you have to hire a lawyer expect to only get half or a little more than half your money back if you win (you'll have to pay the lawyer).

I guess Ive been lucky so far, never had an issue with them. Ive never used a money order so maybe thats part of the problem? All my transactions were direct deposit into a bank account. I also do not move money into/out of very often, probably less than 10 times in total.

Hope you get things figured out, we need a trustworthy service in this community.

My sentiments exactly. You think it won't happen to you until it DOES.

I was the same way-- I ignored the various reports thinking that those people must have done something wrong, and I'll just be super careful to write my name very legibly on the money order, etc.

Well, I'm here to tell you that is not the case. I did everything perfectly and by the book, and they lost my money order and I still do not have $1,000 that I sent to them and they deposited.

I'm being told it will be resolved in 2 days. And they said "they believe me" once I showed them the trace on the money order.

However, 2 weeks ago i was told to wait 1 week and it would be resolved and that didn't happen.

I've had an experience where they said wait a couple weeks.  THen they did nothing, so I wrote again and they gave me a specific date.  The date came and went with nothing.  Finally I had to stop trying to get my fiat and I fortunately was able to buy BTC back and take the btc out.  Of course I had to buy at a loss though and it was a month later.  I assume that's automated, that's the only way I could get ANYTHING out of them.

ANyone seriously thinking about using campbx needs to think about why the owner of campbx who used to come on the forum seems to have totally abandoned contact with customers and on the forum.

Okay the good news is campbx finally delivered my money. They sent $1,000 to my account today, 28 days after I sent it.

It took continual harassment by me to get this done with an open ticket and 2 live online customer service chats. And it also took me a trip to the post office and $5.25 to pay for a trace on the money order which luckily I had kept the stub for. I do not know if I would have seen the money otherwise.

It was definitely NOT worth the stress of losing my money. They apologized and said "it won't happen again". But there won't be an "again" because I won't do business with them any more.

They seem to be honest, but disorganized. And when you're dealing with money as your commodity, disorganization is an unacceptable standard with money.

Good to hear. Vote with your wallet.

Glad you got the money.  A really good question re: would they have given you the money if you didn't have the stub and hadn't bothered them and traced the money order.  Amazing people are still using them for any sizeable sum of money.

Yes, I wonder the same thing myself. I think there is a good chance I would not have gotten the money if I didn't have the money order stub and if I didn't do a trace.

I noticed the conversation changed from "we're working on it and we'll let you know" over and over, to "we believe you" once I showed them the trace. And even then it still took a week afterward. But before I showed the trace, all I got was delays and reasons (excuses) why it wasn't being done.

I feel I was very lucky in the end after all my perseverance and many others will not be so lucky.

CampBX is throwing up some red flags lately.  A few months ago things were going smoothly and deposits (both MO and personal check) were pretty much on time, but something has changed.  I've got a $1K deposit pending that's over a week past normal now.  I expect when they get around to it that it'll be deposited, but not being able to keep up with their basic business functions is very troubling.  So I've pulled out all my BTC out of CampBX for now and will be watching my checking account closely to see if/when my deposit makes it into my CampBX account.  Hopefully the CampBX folks won't get so frustrated with unhappy customers (not to mention federal regulators) that they just say screw it and walk away; I like CampBX and hope they succeed.
