What you also get from the report is just how connected all this stuff is with libertarian derp:

From the article:
Quote
“I’d say ‘Less government but we need the government to build roads,’ ” this friend [of DPR] said. “But for him, even when it came to building roads, he felt there ought to be a voluntary basis for that. The point for him wasn’t to abolish government. He just thought people should have the ability to opt out of paying taxes.”

There's a local guy that says that government shouldn't even own roads and that they should be given back to the original land owners. When I asked him how they'd be maintained, he said they'd be maintained because of the Free Market.  I tried to explain that could mean a toll booth every 1000 feet, but he insisted that there was some magic in the Free Market that would cause these land owners to maintain the roads without any toll booths.  This same person has some super strange ideas about how things should work in the US and he is completely resistant to hearing or understanding any of the holes in his logic. We had conversations over the course of several months (so, it isn't like he was just drunk for the night).

I also like this logic about having to look at disturbing photos of a guy that was 'murdered':

Quote
Mr. Green had “died of asphyxiation/heart rupture” while being tortured, nob explained. Dread Pirate Roberts replied that he found the images disturbing, but that he did not have any other choice.

“I just wish more people had some integrity,” D.P.R. wrote.

It's a shame when you can't trust hired hitmen to get the job done as promised.

I'm not sure that I really buy the whole hitmen thing. Everything I read about DPR seems to fit with him being the owner of silk road but that seems like an anomaly in his character. Someone who actually believes they are a pioneer of freedom doesn't just start committing acts against peoples most basic rights.

I consider myself pretty libertarian... I am not sure what the best solution for roads would be though.

I don't remember where, but I thought I read that they're up to accusing him of SIX contract killings (or at least attempting six of them).  That's a bit of a bump from the 'maybe two' when he was picked up and it kind of makes me wonder what they classify as an "attempted killing".  If I go online and complain about my neighbor and offer BTC to anyone who'll do something about it... am I suddenly hiring a hit man?

At least, the article doesn't mention bitcoin even once  ;D

Reasonable doubt: the government pwnd the SR & DPR accounts, and those who prosecute identity theft can certainly engage in it.

Who's Krugman's conservative twin?

I swear Paul Krugman is the statist version of Glenn Beck, I wish somebody would make a category for people like this so I don't end up clicking it thinking he has something intelligent to say for once.

From his POV, I guess he just paid a private defence agency (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_defense_agency), to protect his customers.
