To gather them, you must collect fruits, catch bugs, fish, dig for fossils, etc. and trade those items for Bells. In the crypto world, we just mine for them! The Bell amount you get from the various items is quite random, so Bells as a cryptocurrency has random rewards in various denominations as well. I have ~42k from mining this when I couldn't think of anything else. People with higher hashrates won't take long to overtake that and it is nothing I am sure to what some people are holding of the coin. I just like animal crossing and liked the way the block rewards worked. Apparently other people do too since it was copied for Dogecoin and basically all other other meme coins.
