Title: Binance Academy
Post by: Fawez on May 25, 2018, 07:20:01 AM
Binance is embarking on a new very pedagogical project. Indeed, the platform announced the launch of the Binance Academy. The objective is simply to inform investors in an objective way to help them better understand crypto-currencies and BlockChain technology.

The Binance Academy will  propose to Internet users three themes. The first concerns the fundamentals of the BlockChain and explains how this technology works, particularly in terms of mining and its interests. Next, the second theme deals with coins and tokens, explaining above all what Bitcoin and Ethereum are, or emphasizing the difference between coins and tokens. Finally, the third theme is entirely dedicated to security in order to help an investor to identify a scam or to secure its accounts effectively.

I love this idea. This is a class act from Binance and very laudable. Others should follow suit. A few questions I'd like to ask though.
Is this going to be a free academy training or will people have to pay for it? Also, are the classes going to be held online or there is a dedicated venue where the classes will be holding?

Classes will be held online according to this article in medium (https://medium.com/binanceexchange/binance-academy-98cf3af9ddb6). IMO, it would be better if they rather plan to open up a real academy that focuses on the study of the utilization of blockchain and a degree that comes along with it(Maybe something like Bachelor in blockchain engineering) than making it online.
Is this going to be a free academy training or will people have to pay for it?

According to the same article linked above, it will be free and all video tutorials will be user made. Since it is a free service, I think people might consider taking a look into it.

hmm ... a simple learning topic would not be widely developed. Everyone can understand Blockchain when reading a book about Blockchain. I do not think I will need a classroom to educate young people about blockchain technology. that is bullshit.

Socializing the Crypto-currency and blockchain technology to the community is indispensable for them to know the usefulness and functionality of blockchain technology, I think it's very smart not only to share knowledge but one of the marketing strategies to add value.

There are 3 rules about the number of participants who enter in Binance Academic. Fistly, each team may only participate in one topic. Once your application for a topic is approved, you can’t change topics. Secondly, there are maximum of 4 people per team. Finally, each topic will be restricted to 4 pre-approved teams. Binance may contact each team at any time to check on progress.

I really believe that the path Binance is taking is good. Providing such curriculum to the public will help and enlighten more people in cryptocurrency space and at the same time reduce theft. It is very important that security issues is taught to the general public. Most people in cryptocurrency don't know the least basics of security. This a good thing indded.

Never heard of it, but if it is true, then that is a really good initiative. One of the things that is lacking in the crypto community, is true understanding of the purpose of cryptocurrencies. A lot of people invest in it, but they are just moved by the hype, and don't even known what's the purpose of crypto. They see others getting good profits and they jump in. They then see the price going down, and they just sell.

If people understand what they are buying, they are more likely to hold it, or simply not buy it in the first place. I need to get more information about this, to see what they are really doing.

as noble as it sounds, it will turn out to bring even more business to binance. So it's surely not a charity, rather a very cunning move from their side, as they get both PR and business.

Seems like another sketchy move by binance. There's no need for more "free blockchain education" there's plenty.

1. BitDegree Tutorials (https://www.bitdegree.org/tutorials/) have like 200 articles that are available for free.

2. Lisk Academy (https://lisk.io/academy) pretty sure this is the one binance directlt copied as it's 1:1 design and content structure

3. BlockGeeks (https://blockgeeks.com/) extensive video tutorials about blockchain and cryptocurrency. I think one of the founders is Vitaliks dad (could be wrong)

Not talking about the billions of youtube videos and reddit posts. There's plenty of education available, the sad reality is that nobody want to learn they just want 1000x returns and piece of the fuck out.

Its a step in the right direction for the such an academy to be in full shape. The project aims at explaining blockchain technology and how it works; placing more emphasis on mining. It also gives details on how to secure your wallet which I believe its a good form of education for all crypto enthusiast
