Post by: iqacid on January 21, 2014, 04:30:31 PM
Hey Guys

i just bought 5x 7950

PSU: 1600
3x riser 1x to 16x none powered
2x riser 16x to 16x none powered

so my question is its possible to get the +12v from Motherboard for all 5x gpu? should i have to get powered riser? i just confused so please let me kno what should i do  :-[

P.S: Btw i have a rig with 4x 7950 + 1350 PSu and just took + 12v from MB for all of them and it works with nonepowered riser card.

Im still quite noob so don't take my word for it, research it. As far as I gather I think you need power to the 1x to 16x risers. 16x to 16x should run power from the mobo.

Personally I would put them all on powered risers to take the power flow out from the motherboard and straight to the cards from the psu.

PS this is my first post ever on this site...go easy  ::)

It really depends on your overclocking, I have seen people use 5 GPU without powered riser but I advise you to use about 2-3.

The correct subforum for this question is Mining->Mining support. Please use the "move" feature to move your thread to the correct place.

Also, important for who?
