Title: Snowball Effect Post by: Johnny Bitcoinseed on January 23, 2014, 08:18:58 PM As more companies accept Bitcoin payments, their competition are forced to follow suit or risk being left behind in the dust. The momentum builds upon itself so that each stage is far bigger than the last.
One of the latest to come on board: TigerDirect. Bitcoin is on a roll. And it has only just begun. Title: Re: Snowball Effect Post by: 2tights on January 23, 2014, 08:19:48 PM I see the snowball effect happening. As more companies accept Bitcoin payments, their competition are forced to follow suit or risk being left behind in the dust. The momentum builds upon itself so that each stage is far bigger than the last. Bitcoin is on a roll. And it has only just begun. Sit back and enjoy the scenery. :) Title: Re: Snowball Effect Post by: 2tights on January 23, 2014, 08:26:50 PM Enjoying it now! 8) Let's see who will throw next. right now the snowball fight seems to be between KNC customers. Half are freaking the F out, the others of us are in HODL mode. The sky is falling crowd: "Everyone jump ship before it sinks!" The optimistic crowd: "HODL... H O D L!" It's difficult to not be drawn into this cyclical conversation. One thing is certain in mind is that many are overreacting by jumping ship already, we're not even in the home stretch yet. Title: Re: Snowball Effect Post by: Johnny Bitcoinseed on January 23, 2014, 10:41:26 PM The correct motivation is seeing opportunity.
Fear gets you going backward. Seeing the possibilities moves you forward. Indeed, that is scary to many people - and that's a good thing because it leaves the field open for the rest of us who choose to forge ahead, create, expand while exploring new opportunities that scare the timid masses. I am in complete agreement with what you're saying... no need to preach about that here, go post in the KNC thread about this. They're the ones who need a pep talk. But I wouldn't hold by breath for the outcome of your attempts to calm them. Fear has taken hold and its obvious that these people aren't good investors. First, they're much too worried about ROI and they're jumping ship way too easily. All of this little news sure does add up to give us the sum, which is that companies are taking a serious look at Bitcoin - that's excellent. The prices have been stagnant/declining of late because of what is going down in China. Title: Re: Snowball Effect Post by: BTCisthefuture on January 24, 2014, 02:41:08 AM I believed very strongly that 2014 would be the year of more large scale merchant adoption and improved services to make bitcoin easier for regular people to use.
So far the large merchant adoption trend seems to be holding up only 3 weeks into the new year. I'm looking forward to see what sort of innovations start popping up to make bitcoin easier/safer for regular people now that will/should have quite a few outlets to use bitcoin at. Not sure, it works for me... To OP, yep there are bound to be ups and downs still but with BTMs spreading and some larger retailers starting to look at Bitcoin in a serious way, 2014 could get very interesting. Title: Re: Snowball Effect Post by: keithers on January 24, 2014, 03:49:05 PM Pretty soon it will become a list of which merchants are not accepting bitcoin, rather than the vice versa. How that affects the overall value and market cap remains to be seen since most meechants are immediately converting back to their local currency. Im pretty sure some of the merchants will start keeping a portion of BTC in their own portfolio and cashing out only a portion.

I think you're right, that'd be the smart thing to do if not just for long term savings. I'm definitely looking forward to the lists of merchants not accepting bitcoin. Title: Re: Snowball Effect Post by: Johnny Bitcoinseed on January 24, 2014, 08:49:34 PM Lets hope so. Bitcoin users are still a minority, so I can't see companies benefiting substantially from implementing bitcoins. I take it you haven't seen today's TigerDirect.com news... after just one day of implementing Bitcoin, something like $250,000 in Bitcoin sales + 30% increase in store visits. What's more, TigerDirect.com pays no credit card fees when items are purchased using Bitcon! Get to pocket an additional 2 to 3% of sales. That is huge - we're talking $6000 +/- extra profit going to that company. Overstock.com clocked $130,000 worth of Bitcoin sales in one day. Please explain your statement, FEdison.... Yeah I agree with this. I think this year will show a lot of adoption of Bitcoin as a payment method. We're already seeing universities accepting it for tuition fees and online/offline stores accepting it. Can't wait to see what this year brings. I'm hold all the way.
