What good will it do?

If members use it to spam with PMs, then they will get red tagged and ignored, and the listed members may not all be merit sources They will probably put newbies on ignore for PMs.

There is enough merit begging going on here, without further promotion of it.

Why it wouldn't be allowed? However are you sure that they actually are merit sources?
If you listed a wrong person on your list, it could cause them some difficulties.
However like Jet Cash said, it is not really any of use. It might cause merit sources getting their inboxes flooded with beggars.
There is already people who moderate the merit sources, to avoid any abuse.

If a merit source decides to stay anonymous, probably is for a good reason. Why are you so interested in making them public? It should be their choice, not yours.
I don't know the reasons (probably JC is right), but the point is: is not for you to decide.

I agree with seoincorporation and Jet Cash. Sussing out which are the merit sources may be up to some point witty, but I can’t see the benefit for them at all. Quite the opposite. The ones who want it to be a known fact at some point have already manifested that they are indeed a Merit Source, but the others, evident as some are, may wish to perform their committed task without further hassle.

then they will get red tagged and ignored,
I know why you say that ;)

I'm sure 100%

I thought it would be interesting to know who are the sources, but this is a good point will be respected.

Are there more suggestions?

I think you're playing with fire. You can be punished for such information, because, as was said above, this information is secret for some reason.
On the other hand, what is the point in this information? if a person is a merit host, then he clearly deserved it and publicity will only hurt him. Every second newcomer will consider it his duty to ask him  for merits. And some will spam them in PM, which clearly will not be a good state of affairs.
This is part of the rules of the forum, and it's better that it does not change. Of course it's only my point of view  ;)
