Title: Cryptocurrency Academic and Reserch Papers. Any recommendation.
Post by: kojoannan on May 27, 2018, 10:34:35 PM
Is there any specific academic research papers or conference proceedings on any cryptocurrency you can recommend for me. I know there are lot of books on it but I want an academic paper.

they are not good and if there are any they just describe the volatility and uncertainty as those are the measurable and secure constant of this economy

Hello kojoannan,

We understand you would like to have academic papers on the topic of cryptocurrency. First of all we would say that the white paper of Satoshi Nakomoto and the book Mastering Bitcoin by Andreas Antonopoulos are still some of the most referenced sources on cryptocurrency in the world of academics. So if you would like to quote a peer reviewed source, using these two as reference should give you a good basis for your own paper/article. If you are not looking for books but academic papers we suggest taking a look at the following two papers:

SoK: Research Perspectives and Challenges for Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies by J. Bonneau, A. Miller, J. Clark, A. Narayanan,  J. Kroll and Edward W. Felten this is a paper that discusses the upgrades suggested for the bitcoin network. Anonymity protocols of several other cryptocurrencies are discussed and this paper will help you get more understanding of the crypto space in general.

Bitcoin: An innovative alternative digital currency by R. Grinberg is a paper which has an indepth analysis on what bitcoin is and how it compares to more traditional currencies. Furthermore there is an extensive analysis on the future and sustainability of the digital currency.

Hopefully this will help you get a better understanding of cryptocurrencies and the technologies implemented by them.

With kind regards,
The Anycoin Direct team

I recommend that you try out Iris.ai's tool for searching papers, if you're new to the cryptocurrency research. The tool helps you to map out scientific articles that are related to a paper of your choice. It's a quick way to explore the topic from multiple perspectives.

I found a bunch of Open Access papers based on the Bitcoin article that Anycoin suggested: https://the.iris.ai/map/4a7f1019-8663-419c-bce3-3e63f4ea327b

Hope this helps!

Here's one of my favourite introduction into the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies, the problems they are trying to solve and the context out of which Bitcoin's approach arose:
https://cacm.acm.org/magazines/2017/12/223058-bitcoins-academic-pedigree/fulltext

Especially the reference section may be of interest to you, as it includes a lot of further reading regarding both the current state of cryptocurrencies and some of the fundamental research that preceded it.

There are some academical websites where you can find papers about bitcoin:
- Jstor.org. In there, you will find a good number of academical paper, but the problem is you will need to join towards an institution if you don't want to pay.
- Research Gate. This is like an academic-social media in which many academics and researchers upload their current work. You will find in there some good researchers about bitcoin going on, as well as some (and free) articles: https://www.researchgate.net/topic/Bitcoin
- Academia. edu. The same like Research Gate: this is a social-academic-media place with thousands of papers with free-download available. http://www.academia.edu/Documents/in/Bitcoin
- Cabra, another place with some good papers about bitcoin (i think this is fully dedicated to the crypto world, but I haven't look into it seriously yet): https://cdecker.github.io/btcresearch/

I hope it helps.
