Title: The problem with Myetherwallet
Post by: QueenOf on May 27, 2018, 10:38:28 PM
Lately, I'm having some problems in Myetherwallet.
  • Sending a token always fails.
  • Losing tokens.
  • Token retrieval with no fee.
What happened with Myetherwallet? is MEW no longer secure?
if Myetherwallet implementing 2FA might be safer.

Please refer to https://ethgasstation.info/calculatorTxV.php when your transaction of token is always fail. Make sure also to ask for a help in the admin of the tokens you hold if your coin is already unlocked. Because when you send a locked token, it surely will not send and you can get deducted by the gas fee. MyEtherwallet is good, it is secured as long as you link it to your metamask.

Maybe it fails because you don't have enough eth in you mew account for transaction fee.

  • Losing tokens.
  • Token retrieval with no fee.
If it is missing in etherscan try to add in mew. Yeah there's no fee.

What happened with Myetherwallet? is MEW no longer secure?

Nothing happened to MEW. MEW is still secure. You are responsible for your security if you really need 2FA then just wait for blockchain that will have 2FA. There's an ICO that offer that 2FA idea, I had read it few weeks ago, let's hope that the project will be sucessful.

Until today I still use myether wallet, and I think it's safe. you can see it from historical token transfers. usually fails because the token in your key or your gas cost is less

  • Sending a token always fails.
It might be out of gas, the token is locked, or anything else. It would be better if you will check etherscan for every transaction you made to see the reason why it was failed.

  • Losing tokens.
  • Token retrieval with no fee.
What do mean exactly with these two?

What happened with Myetherwallet? is MEW no longer secure?
if Myetherwallet implementing 2FA might be safer.
Myetherwallet is just an interface, a platform. In terms of security, the individual is responsible for that. We know that MEW aren't holding the private keys plus there's no accounts (username/passwords) in the site. That being said, implementing 2FA is impossible.

i think someone has taken your privet key.

I think that you might not be doing it right. You are not adding the correct gas limit and the correct gas price to enable the transaction to go smoothly. Please also refer to https://ethgasstation.info/calculatorTxV.php as has been stated earlier. Remember that miners can only process your transaction when they have the maximum gas fee which is calculated from gas limit and gas price. Please do your search on it. Thanks

MyEtherWallet is still secured. I think you were compromised or anything? are you sure you're only one who knows your private key. Also if there is a lost of tokens you can always check it at EtherScan to know whether there are transactions made.

Lately, I'm having some problems in Myetherwallet.
  • Sending a token always fails.
remember always check https://ethgasstation.info/ for SafeLow Gwei for Transfer and check total pending tx, don't send your tokens when ethereum platofrm high traffic or use more gwei to complete your transfer

  • Losing tokens.
  • Token retrieval with no fee.
do you mean can't see your token in myetherwallet or etherscan, if yes , you need to use ethplorer or deltabalances to view hidden tokens, add manual add custom tokens in myetherwallet

What happened with Myetherwallet? is MEW no longer secure?

Who told you myetherwallet no longer secure? I don't think they will implenting 2FA, direct use hardware wallet and it's best way to secure your fund

I haven't had problems recently with MEW. Perhaps the token you're trying to transfer is locked, or you're not setting the right gas limit.

What do you mean by 'Losing tokens.' ? Maybe you need to click 'Add custom token' to display your balance, or just check on etherscan.

i'm new heard about this issue, because as long i use Myetherwallet i have no issue,
maybe you should check your gas limit first before send any token from your mew
and sometimes the problem is in ethereum network

Of all the listed problems, I have faced only the fact that the token was not added to the list. I updated the page a couple of times and everything worked. And if you have lost your tokens, then most likely you have been hacked

Lately, I'm having some problems in Myetherwallet.

Sending a token always fails.

Either you don't have enough ETH on your address to cover fees or you using device with less RAM like mobile. If the latter is the case and you got enough ETH for transaction, try transaction on Desktop or Laptop and it will happen easily.

Quote
Losing tokens

Losing tokens  ??? I don't think MyEther has any hand in that, it is simply an open-client and don't save any info with it. Always track your address on Etherscan and Ethplorer to see if tokens are present on address, you might confused yourself on MyETH as you hadn't loaded the full list of assets on it.

Quote
Token retrieval with no fee.

The most probable reason for it is that the token you trying to send is sill locked by the token owner. If a token is locked and you broadcast a transaction, miner will take the fees but won't complete the transaction as it is your fault.

What happened with Myetherwallet? is MEW no longer secure?

If you really dislike using MyETH then you should possibly search for new client to conduct transactions. Best alternative is Idex.Market. Simply import private keys or Keystone File and start using it. Idex is much more simple than MyETH

Buy yourself a Ledger and live in peace. 80 euros is not such a large amount, but without your knowledge nothing from the wallet can be sent until you confirm the action on the hardware wallet.

Are you sure that you are having problems with Myetherwallet? Perhaps you have viruses on a personal computer.

I advise clearing the cache and cookies of the browser.

If the problems do not get out then you need to wait for a response from the Myetherwallet team

Sending token that always fail and losing tokens are due to the shortage of your gas. You should know how gas is being computed so that you have an idea on how many gas is needed to complete the transaction.
2FA is what I want in MEW since it was already hacked lately, they should make a way to secure their clients.

It's running smoothly for me, but remember you can't use the gas station right now, the gas station fees is in a low priority and if you are following it and there is a lot of chance your token will never be delivered at the time.

What do you mean about loosing token? Your token doesn't appear on your wallet and try to erase it and add it again, this may work for some people.

If you are not feeling convenience again with it and you can try move to the mycrypto.

Maybe you are sending these tokens to a wrong exchange wallet address e.g if you send a token that is not listed on binance to binance from MEW, you might lose the token because it is not listed, be sure of the address you are actually sending this token to and be sure it is listed in there and if that ain't the case,  maybe you should just adjust your gas price upward.

For some cases, returning transaction can be because of less of gas limit, but I have no problem with MEW, i done few transaction and goes well today with standard gas limit. So I think your token maybe was locked by dev, even you set gas with high limit the transaction will still going to falls.

For safest, you should use hardware wallet to store cryptos instead of MEW. I use only MEW wallet when trading cryptos. Currently, e-wallet online is experiencing a lot of security problems, so it is safe to use hardware wallets to avoid hackers take the cryptos.

For me MEW is even safer than meta mask , the kind of problems you are mentioning is totally unrelated to MEW itself , you are probably doing something wrong , using wrong gas limit , not adding tokens to you MEW ( even if it appears on ethersacn you might still need to add it manually in MEW ) , using too low Gwei price or simply the token you are trying to send is still locked .

I think you are using low gas than required that is resulting in cancellation of transfers and transactions, secondly you need to check your gwei settings and make sure they are set at decent range, the higher the gwei the faster the transaction.

Here I do not face any problem with accessing my MEW wallets mate. You should need the ethereum in your wallet to make the transaction of any ERC20 tokens from one place to exchange or elsewhere but I do not know whether you have ethereum in your wallet or not.

If you are loosing the tokens means I think you cannot able to see the tokens in your wallet. For that you need to add the custom tokens with the given steps side by side.  If you see that there is no security for MEW wallet you are only looking for 2FA access with MEW.

Failed token sent can be because you don't have enough ethereum in your wallet which works as gas to send the tokens or maybe because you use a very low gas. You can only lose your tokens if another person has access to your private keys. Or maybe your tokens are not displaying in balance, you can add tokens manually so that it shows up. I don't understand what you mean by token retrieval with no fee.

I've been using Myetherwallet, which is a very convenient ETH wallet. For the problem you say, I think network congestion has caused your failure to transfer your accounts. Try to adjust your gas.

I never had a problem with MEW, Maybe you don't enough eth balance to cover the gas fee when doing some transaction. Also, make sure before send token/eth check ethgasstation first to know how much required gas to sending a token/eth to another address...

I think we dont need implementing 2FA, because Metamask is enough to secure your wallet from hackers.

Like others said, mew is secured as long as you don't tell anyone your pv keys and visit the real website. Make sure that you have enough eth to cover the gas for tx. If you have enough eth to pay for gas but still failed to send your tokens, maybe it's because the token itself is still locked.

These are fundamental errors, and people using MEW have these errors. I have done a lot of Etherdelta transactions, and transactions often appear to fail, and every transaction is costly.

Mew just provides and creates your own ETH wallet with their private keys they don't offer some security protocols like 2FA because the creation directs from the ETH blockchain but they provide UTC files which act as an encrypted file to access your private key like they said it is either you lack some gas or the token is still locked about the other two questions, what do you mean by losing tokens? hacked wallet? can you check it on the etherscan if that token is still in your possession? Token retrieval like you can see the display of your token from MEW, of course, it doesn't you are not transferring anything yet.

Yes, This is a common problem we encounter in the ether wallet. There are some cases that the ether wallet is malfunctioning. Sometimes it loses token and sometimes gives no retrieval fee. Make sure you tell to anyone your private key because they might hacked your account. The problem for other people is they forgot to remember their private key. Therefore they cannot retrieve it anymore.

To simplify what others have said, you might be having problems because you are not spending enough "gas (gwei)" to make sure your transactions reach their destination. When you don't have enough gas, your tokens get stuck on the network and you will have to wait a certain amount of time before they return to you.

What you can do now is to simply wait for your tokens to return then resend them with a higher gas amount (preferably based on ethgasstation.info).

It is not MEW that is having problems, it's the congested eth network.
Before sending anything in eth network, always check https://ethgasstation.info/ so you can know what gas to you.

So far, I have not encountered any issue using MEW and using Ledger with MEW.

- MyEtherWallet (MEW) is one of the dedicated wallets to store tokens that are run on the Ethereum platform (ERC20).
Valuable as one of the most trusted ethereum archives as well as being the most widely used in the cryptocurrency market.
- MyEtherWallet does not have a double-layer security feature (2FA) that only has a Password, Private Key, and Keystore / JSON File.
So, you need to know for yourself how to protect your personal information on the Internet. Especially things related to your money, property.
To avoid the case of your hacked MEW wallet you should pay attention to the following:
- Do not visit unknown, unreliable websites
- Bookmark the MyEtherWallet.com address to avoid spoofing.
- Absolutely not let anyone know your Private Key
- Computers should use copyrighted anti-virus software
These are some basic ways to increase the security of your wallet MEW as well as other accounts such as the exchange, Coinbase wallet ....

Perhaps your transactions are not executed, because you are exposing a very small price for GAS. MyEthereumWallet is the safest purse for ERC 20 tokens, the main thing is not to use your private key anywhere except the official site, then you will not be hacked.
