For the time being, the cryptocurrency markets do not seem to make much sense. With the Bitcoin price in the dirt, all other cryptocurrencies are bound to follow. While there will be some pump-and-dump attempts of smaller and insignificant currencies, the ethereum price is going straight down. After a very rough week which just ended, the new momentum only seems to be driving down the value down even further.

More specifically, the Ethereum price has dropped below $550. It is the first time in over a week the Ethereum price goes this low. In fact, the value per Ether was just over $720 on May 22nd. A massive price dip has occurred earlier this morning, albeit no one knows for sure what has caused it exactly. Even so, recovering from this massive setback will prove to be very challenging, for rather obvious reasons.
With this latest 8.76% setback in USD value and another 7.86% decline in the ETH/BC ratio, things are not looking all that impressive for the Ethereum price. At this rate, it seems to be a matter of time until the Ethereum price drops below $500, which would spook a lot of holders, for rather obvious reasons. Panic selling has already begun to set in, which will continue to drive the Ethereum price down for the foreseeable future.

The Ethereum trading volume is still holding relatively strong at $2.221bn in the past 24 hours. Unfortunately, most of that trading volume is made up of people looking to dump their Ether holdings at bottom prices. At the same time, there will be some people buying the dip, as this creates an exciting opportunity to stock up on some cheap Ether.
Fiat currency markets are not hard to come by where Ether trading is concerned. Right now, only Bitfinex is in the top six, whereas the rest is made up of BTC and USDT trading pairs. OKEx, Huobi, and Binance are all in the top five as well. With just two exchanges generating over $100m in volume these past 24 hours, things are not necessarily looking all that great. Only time will tell if the Ethereum price can pick up the pace moving forward.

What a bad start to the week! And it looks like there will not be any positive news for the best cryptocurrencies this week. The downtrend continues ... maybe with the exception of the coming weekend. We will see and it remains to be seen what will happen.

Maybe this is the right time to  buy more eth.. as it will bounce back soon enough, just like what happened for the last 2 years. Prices go down in may, and goes up so high in the next 2 months.

We have yet to see the end of 2018. Of course that correction was inevitable, keep in mind how fast the prices went up in December. Correction was expected to occur. However I do believe that for the long run it doesn't matter as the market will catch the bull run again someday in the future.

Remember it has been getting a drop at first quarter of this year and it has reached the bottom was around $360 and it looks like it will give us the more opportunity to buy ethereum as much as possible. Due to the various regulations from a lot of countries and the pioneering analyst from wall street was creating a FUD news that makes everyone thinking to dump their altcoins to the market. Pos mechanism still not implemented and there is a second chance to the ethereum.

You are absolutely right, now is the time to buy ETH, because in a couple of months the situation will change very much and you can count on a big profit. And the same situation with top 10 cryptocurrencies, i think.

ethereum crypto coin is the most traded currency in the world. the graphics are very uneven and the price is not as stable as the old one. in the near future the price could go below $ 550.

this is a bad surprise for the ethereum holders, the portfolio that I have of his value keeps going down. I am confused by the events that the market experienced today, as well as panic and worry. now I doubt whether in the near future ethereum can rise again.

Well diversify amongst new platforms as well as ETH so you don´t lose out if they eat away on the market of ETH. Kind of a hedge :)

Do not think that if the fall and thats it will be protracted. Too many companies are tied to the rate of Ether. It is worth thinking that if such a maneuver is accomplished, then whales will randomly buy up the depreciating assets of companies that they want to get their hands on. We regard this acquisition as if it is as a stage to increase.

I believe that the price drop is not something to be scared off since Ethereum prove its worthiness over a year. Just take the price of Ethereum last year which is less than a dollar. Why not take the advantage to buy and invest to ICOs just make sure to diversify your investment.

The current dip is affected in all the Cryptocurrencies so Ethereum will raise soon. But we must wait for next pump because still most of the peoples are investing in Ethereum so this will going to moon and many peoples are waiting to continuous dump. So my suggestion is investing in favourite coins are trusted coins automatically that will increase the value and marketcap

That's why the market is very volatile and now it is back to correction, but I look at all of this on the other hand it's a good dash to buy certain coins and keep them for a long period of time.

I think the Ethereum price drop to follow bitcoin price as the crypto leader so far, as I heard several days ago that Mt Gox has issued their stock of BTC to cause the price down and followed by other alt price.

Correction is always normal in every market. Ethereum has a low to about $300 recently and then bounced towards $700 with some correction afterwards and there we are with some noob declaring 2018 as a bad year for the whole market.

The OP sure do have some point on the volume, but we all know how the market can act at times, as all traders are simply looking forward to catch the best gains most of the time but only time will tell if this is just going to be a little retrace or we are up for some crazy moments ahead.

This mean only a good time to invest, for me this price won't go down and down for next weeks and we could take something from investing in it, so good luck and be patient in investments, don't be scared if eth will go down for some next days after your investments cause this will only last for some days from now in my opinion.

For me it is good news because I am looking for  a good entry point to Ethereum to buy a significant amount before the end of the year rally that I expect to happen.

on the other hand for me it was a bad news because i found a lot of problem will happen with them for example with their network and node.

The market obviously cannot keep going up and it is normal to have some correction as this is just simply a market like any other market. Ethereum has had a good time going up and it is about time to have some retracement before trying to see if there is any possibility again of going further.

The main reason noobs always panic easily at times like this and start doomsday theory is because they always feel market should always respond upward in the short term and never change trend.

Currently, most altcoins and tokens are depreciating due to the falling Bitcoin prices. This is not a good time to buy but I believe Bitcoin prices, altcoin and tokens will increase in the near future!

Ethereum going this low is fine. It is still a highly respected coin for me. It is just the market is currently playing with us that is why Ethereum and other altcoin continues to drop. If you have extra money, buy Ethereum or other altcoins and hold again.

I believe that there could be times that it might bounce back now. So all we have to do is to buy a bag of eth and hopefully, we can experience a large pump of this coin. And as far the consensus 2018 is concern, coins that existed a long time ago might go pump.

There is absolutely no reason to panic. Prices go up, and they also go down. The important thing is that the overall trend measured over years is upwards. If you hold good coins now, the chances are very high that in a year's time prices will be higher. We all know that crypto is volatile, which is why short-term rises and falls must be measured against the longer term trend. ETH is a great project, and has an extremely bright future. The journey of crypto into mass-market real-world adoption has barely begun. Smart contracts will become part of everyday life, quite probably with ETH leading the way. Unless you're a day trader, there is no reason to sell.

Drop is good to buy back for recovery asset and get more profit. You only need to find second top bottom because that is sign to start activity again, meaning this is " hope ". For people who doesn't have good money management, this situation can make them lost control and take wrong action. Stay calm and good luck to you.

i do believe ethereum will increasing. Ethereum have a strong community and the best project in blockchain. Blockchain demand and increasing so this condition will favor  ethereum as greatest blockchain project. I believe eth price will go 700 again in several months or maybe next month.

Now the decline in the price of the air is linked to the plum of its reserves of the EOS. But this indicates that soon the price will again climb up and reach the mark of $ 1000. There is no need to doubt the Ethereum, for its growth and further development there are all quite objective grounds.

$550 is not too low for ETH price at the moment :). At the early of this year ETH price was under $400 :)).

This is the time to buy Ether and hold because I think this is the lowest it could come recently and as we begin in the coming week, Ether price won't be low as we have seen it previously.

I believe ETH will not die and the recent volatility is a process that "refreshes" its customers and investors. This is the second biggest phase of the year in the crypto market. and the price of ~ 520 may be the last bottom.

The price of financial assets cannot continue going up or coming down, therefore, we would always have time for recovery and pump which professionals called bearish and bullish market.  We should see 2017 as the beginning of bullish market as the overall price movement is still bullish.  2018, we are having a short recovery and the right thing to do now is buying.

I must say that there is nothing to be worried about if ETH will drop below $550USD as this will easily recover in the coming weeks. This is the right time to buy ETH at that level since price is lower than the usual price and it can make a good profit from your investment with ETH.

Prices have been suffering for a while now so not surprised to see that the price of ethereum fell back down again. Although the price is now back up and is very close to $600 now so it means that the prices have started to recover again albeit quite slowly

Not yet a good time to buy Ethereum. It should't drop below 500. This may be because of EOS news circulating around. Lets see couple weeks. Then market should really turn around for better chart.

Just because a market is having a correction, does not mean we are in doomsday. At least, let ETH go lower than $300 before even thinking the doom is nigh. 2018 may have started not so good, same as the same way 2017 started, but that does not mean that everything has totally gone bad, but I guess everyone will always have their opinion on how they see the market. It is just Ethereum creating an opportunity for those who are smart enough to buy to do so.

I think this is the low point of Ethereum. This is a good time for us to invest in it. Ethereum will have very good prospects for future development. Some people say that it will surpass Bitcoin. I think this is possible, and I am optimistic about it.

I strongly believe that the price of ETH should be $1000 and up. So when its price <$500, this is  really good time to buy & hold.

Yes, maybe this happens because of the market decline that yesterday had happened and lasted long enough. So that the price of coins dropped. This is the right moment to buy more ethereum, in order to increase the investment asset for greater profits. I saw the market yesterday showed a good change by increasing the price, although now it is back down. But that is an indication that the ethereum can rise even higher and stable.

Ethereum is playing along more than $500 yet less than $600 for a while now. It went below $550 several times. Actually, the price of Ethereum even went as down as $300 plus last April. I was a little bit surprised when it finally lost the $400 value. I was not expecting that Ethereum would go as cheap as that. But several weeks later, the price went back to as high as $700 plus. This year is gonna be a very good year for Ethereum.

Although down, however, ethereum remained altcoin option to invest. slowly but surely ethereum will again rise to the high prices. though not in quick time and many were dubious because a lot of negative news about the crypto, but this will not last long against the development of crypto.

I was thinking about that too. Below $550 can be considered as a good rate to buy more and more ethereum. The market is only jumping and dumping. There is no significant increase from a few weeks before.
The market looks stable right now and it's easy to be predicted. it should be more than $1200 consider the ATH of ethereum was $1200

During the big dump early this year, ethereum has gone down to more than 50% of its price and many have said it would not recover. But it did. Now the price has started to fall again and of course ethereum is not exempted. All of the other coins are falling. Its no surprise that eth will fall with all the others so as bitcoin.

I do not perceive falling Ethereum as disaster. This is not a problem I think just because I am sure that this coin will show good results in future. And we will get yet good profits as the market will start to grow.

There is no basis for saying that ETH will increase to $ 1000. I think it is unlikely that next year, there are too many legal hurdles this year to place on the Crypto market, causing the price of coins to continue to fall. Many fraudulent ICOs have disgraced the e-money community. So I think the market will stabilize next year.

Great time to purchase Ethereum to a low value if you ask me. When the market rallies like crazy at some point in the future(Surely will), Ethereum will surpass its old high and reach a new high which I am hoping will happen by the end of this year. This is the reason I am not selling any of my ETH at the moment and am HODLING them for the long term. The move to POS will also help this coin in a big way most likely.
