Greetings brothers and sisters,

I write this message under a new anonymous account, as the words I am about to speak may have a great affect on all of us and the public at large.

Recently I have returned from the kingdom of Valve. Twelve days ago, I joined in the holy festivities known as Steam Dev Days in the land of Seattle. On the morn of the first day of this cataclysmic event, the great lord Gaben descended from the heavens and addressed the multitude. He said “Let there be Steam Controllers” and then as if by magic, Steam Controllers appeared in our hands.

On the second day of these divine activities, the great lord Gaben said “Let there be Steam Machines” and every person in attendance received Steam Machines to play with. He awarded all of us ceremonious gifts of Steam Machines and Steam Controllers, that we might go forth and experiment.

The great lord even awarded me and seventy-six others the chance to experience his glorious virtual reality prototype, a device of such splendor and magic that not even the holiest of holies were allowed within the sacred walls of the demo room to witness it. Praise be to Gaben!

But none of these moments are what brings me to write this letter.

Something far greater took place at the holy Steam Dev Days. Something no one else witnessed, something no one else experienced.

On the first day, as our holy father Gaben addressed the multitude, something strange and incredible occurred. I was in very close proximity to the great lord, and as he was speaking, all of the sudden he made direct eye contact with me from his mighty throne! The vast auditorium of people disappeared as I was engulfed in a pattern of glorious light and bright clouds. The lord Gaben’s voice boomed out over the blinding void and spoke directly into my soul:

“Let there be a new world currency, that we may bring goodness and righteousness unto the Earth and eliminate console peasantry once and for all. This currency shall henceforth be known as Gabencoin. Now go forth, child, spread this divine word to all our people. In my name it shall be done.”

This is my special revelation from our lord and savior to remove the need for peasant currency and create the Gabencoin. And thus have I created it, and immediately upon creation I have shared it with the multitude and distributed its holy image. Gabencoin is open to anyone who wishes to mine its glorious riches!

That coin hasn't been made yet so it can't be this.

There was a very small premine before hand. This was done just to make sure everything was working properly. Since this is the first coin we had ever made. All coins that were premined will eventually be given out as tips to others who would like some gabens. For more information you can see the github page https://github.com/gabens/gabencoin or you can ask me and I will try to answer them to the best of my knowldege. Although it is getting a bit late for me and I will  go to bed soon, so i will answer them in the morning.

Also this coin was not made through coingen.io. Someone else apparently was trying to make the same coin. This was done by me without anyhelp from coingen.io. That is something seperate, did not know about that until just now. 

Interesting.  Looks like someone else had the idea of spreading the great word of Gabe via a coin.  We did not use coingen for this though.

There was no premine, that is not the way the Good Gabe would want it, we launched it to the world and started mining ourselves at the same time.  Initial diff was set low though and as I look now a lot of people have started mining.

A pool is definitely in order.  I'll try and get one going asap.

They're all .exe files. Virustotal has a score of 1/50 which is usually a false positive.

It's a false positive. The "bkav" anti-virus that is reporting it also tells me the RonPaulCoin and Digibyte wallets are infected.

Pool is having issues, but it seems that the frontend of the pool isn't updating as fast as it should. Probably a cronjob gone wild.

Depends on your hashrate.

We had a short lived problem with our choice of stratum server.  It has been resolved and the pool is fine.  Remember, if you are new, you must use a stratum proxy if you are mining from the client.

Then give it a minute and it should be able to sync up with the blockchain. Eventually this process will not be needed when more people adopt Gabencoin.

Copy any .conf you already have to the gabencoin folder.

Change the name to the correct name.

Change the rpc port to 56883.

Change node to add to 166.78.9.198.

That should work just fine.

If the difficulty readjustment is one day and this was released last night, how is the difficulty at 4 already?

the target is 1 day. doesn't mean that it is one day. Readjusment is actually every 1440 blocks. Those blocks get mined faster when the net hash has grown since the last adjustment.

Do you understand that the blocks need 120 confirms before they are paid out to the miners?

I've been solo mining GBN all night, have quite a few. I can't seem to send any to anyone though, it appears as though I'm on my own fork? how do I tell, and how do I fix this? I don't want to lose what I had mined :(

I've done the p2pool-code-adapty-thingy again and set up a node at http://gabencoin.p2p.0x0a.nl:57883 (0.9% fee); once again it is untested as of this moment because

1. the coin's testnet doesn't seem to work (genesis block fails)

I can't believe it , but i guess it has to be said.  When you join a pool and there is a place where you put a wallet address for payouts from the pool,  you need to use A WALLET ADDRESS FOR THE COIN THAT YOU ARE MINING! That would explain why you aren't getting any payouts.  There are 3 people on the pool who entered invalid gabencoin wallet addresses.  2 of the addresses are bitcoin addresses!

I don't know whether you're referring to http://gabencoin.p2p.0x0a.nl:57883 , but I realized that I had made some mistakes with the share difficulty variables! I would still appreciate some expertise from the p2pool gurus, but I think I've got the right values now. Not only does the pool now correctly recognize hash rate, getting a share is also much easier!

So far I've only seen one other miner pass by in the logs, and then only because he was mining for the wrong algorithm.. Bottom line, I have no idea how many other people tried to mine and just  never got a share. To those who wasted time on my miscreant of a pool, please let me know; I hope to be able to make it up somehow. My sincerest apologies!

I think it's going to be OK, mostly troubling is the thought that the shares that have been found so far (3 in total) might be incompatible with the now corrected values. Various sources suggest starting over with a fresh p2pool (i.e. data directory if no other nodes exist yet), but that would be a waste of the 1 'spare' block found so far. And though I think any hiccup that those first three shares may cause in the payout will smooth out soon enough, the three corresponding spikes kind of mess up the graph, which makes it look less than encouraging :-\ but I'm confident we'll get past all that. First  It sure has been paying out since release day.. ask anyone who has mined from the start.
Second, this coin is dying, with difficulty at 4.7 and a total network has of 25Mhs and falling, it takes a LOOONG time for blocks to get the 120 confirms to mature.
if its takes 20 min for a new block to be mined (network wide),  that's 2400 minutes for a block to mature = 40 hours! It getting slower and slower as miners abandon this unsupported coin.  If the developer won't even build the website, it would appear even he has abandon it.

If it started with HL3 even better  :D

Because, going off the top ASIC miner, it'd still take at least 5-6 days for that, unless you had multiple, the electricity, versus the value of these coins...baffles me.

Like, the top miner is 2000 KH/s or so. He makes 8,000 Gabens a day, that is during a 24H cycle.  These are about a week old. He'd have just a little over 50,000, nowhere near 100,000.

So how do people have 100,000+ Already? Besides the creator, that is.

Because the diff started low and a lot was mined in the first few hours.

We need the devs to do something if this coin is going to survive.

The tip bot could help a lot, it has a chance to compete with the other tipbots in gaming markets. I've been tipping a bit, but I don't want to overdo it and be seen as unwelcomed spam.

These coin will never make it to an exchange good coins like this bernankoin,mini coin the one factor they all have devs released a coin but didn't support it not even one update on anything.
