You don't get it, right? We aren't animals. That's the point.

What is the difference then? Yes we have a bigger brain, which in centuries allowed us to invent things, while all a monkey invented was how to use a rock to break a nutshell. But this ape has most of our emotions, feels pain, fear, loneliness, envy. It takes care of it's frends and family, bears children and teaches them how to survive, has sex and feels pleasure like we do. If the level of technological advancement defines a man then someday we may become animals to some alien invaders :D

Nik1ab here argues that he has no soul or spirit, no anima.  It's not much of an argument as he gives no other account for the type of life-spirit which seems necessary to have understood our conversation and contribute to the text to this forum.

I think the point in comparing humans to animals was to bring attention to the fact that most people are conditioned to either hate humans or ignore their suffering. This conditioning as not applied to animals, so people often seem to be more willing to pick up a stray dog than to feed a starving hobo.
