Title: Which sha-256 to mine besides bitcoin?
Post by: magnumbi on January 26, 2014, 06:30:52 PM
So I currently have two little usb block erupters.  My funds are currently tied up in buying a house right now so I don't have options for a better rig.  Which SHA-256 coin should I be mining to maximize these little guys?

Diversify your mining to more sha256 coins.

I second premine. There are moves underway to reward miners who have received 0 reward blocks. So while the number of transactions is still low, you should pick up bonuses.

I wouldn't rely too much on www.coinwarz.com in choosing a coin. Profitability can change significantly few times a day.
Just pick a random coin, find a good pool and hope it will gain in value over time :)

I did pretty good mining Unobtanium with a bunch of AntMiners on a powered USB strip with a little over 10 GH/s overclocked.  I just bought one of the 38GH/s cubes that dropped in price by half on Amazon.  Of course, I would suggest taking a look at my coin Version next weekend.

Just remember when using sites like Coinwarz to estimate profitability, that it is showing you the profitability at that moment in time, but it fluctuates based on the difficulty, multipools etc.  What I usually do is try to see further into the future to get a better idea of what the real profitability is, but its kind of like black magic.  You just have to watch the coins for awhile and see how they move, how the diff moves, etc.  Or join a multipool.  But generally I try to just stick with one coin at a time for awhile and not jump around a lot.
