The website looks a lot like others out there - is there some standard pre-made website/pool software you're using?

My guess it's a twitter's framework - bootstrap - http://getbootstrap.com/
Mostly everyone is using it nowdays since it's very simple and flexible

Not sure on the name, but it's definitely a standard template that's floating around out there that a significant number of altcoin pools have been using.  Not just bootstrap, but the entire design (and database schema/pool software config I believe).

Ah well - that explains why this guy: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=104664.msg4761402#msg4761402
was able to change reward methods so quickly. One moment I check his site and it says "Proportional reward" and the next "PPLNS". I guess he just had to press a button.

Worries me a bit when new pools start up that have pool ops that know so little about bitcoin mining.

It happens in waves.  I remember 2011 when the Simplecoin frontend for pushpool came out and we had a new pool every week for a while.

Plenty of info here.

https://github.com/MPOS/php-mpos/blob/next/README.md

It's an open source turnkey pool front end that works with the stratum-mining proxy as the backup, as I understand it.

OP here.

Yes, its a standard pool setup which is why its similar. The front end software is called MPOS, and its linked to on the bottom of almost every pool that uses it. Its available free on github and is linked right to it on the pool

However, the problem becomes dependancies. Its build to be run on a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) server. You have to install and compile your coin. You have to be synced. You have to compile and configure pushpoold, and then do the same for MPOS. By the time you get that far, 400 things will have required a dependancy or will have broken. If you have little to no knowledge, even medium knowlege, of linux operating systems, this is not for you to attempt, even on a virtual machine

I've been using linux off and on for about 8 years, and I still cant make this software work right.

As an alternative, you can rent a custom pool from Livechains.net

Its cheap, but the guy takes some time to get it around. You choose the coin.
