Title: walletpassphrase and wallet.dat
Post by: guyon on January 27, 2014, 12:46:09 PM
Hopefully a quick question...
In the Bitcoin API Call List for walletpassphrase it says "Stores the wallet decryption key in memory for <timeout> seconds." Am I right in assuming that this means that the wallet.dat file remains encrypted?

So... If I call walletpassphrase [timeout] + some other call + walletlock and restrict the number of connections to 1 then there is no time where the bitcoind daemon is vulnerable

Yes it's only vulnerable via rpc for that time.

Any info for altcoins? I know bits of my password but need a good tool to crack my astrocoin wallet. 1 Astrocoin is worth 100bitcoins or more next year.
