Title: Bitcoin Exchange Differences Post by: BTCGameMaker on September 12, 2011, 07:11:31 AM Anybody know the major differences between the different Bitcoin Exchanges.
Here is what I can tell so far... MtGox is the major one and and Tradehill is it's main competitor and there are now a dozen others. MtGox and Tradehill are the only two I've seen with functioning APIs. MtGox has had some major security issues that put it's security into question but I haven't really seen anything to show that any other exchanges are really that much more secure. Any thoughts? Have you bought a lot of bitcoins this way? Title: Re: Bitcoin Exchange Differences Post by: ovidiusoft on September 12, 2011, 08:36:36 AM Bitmarket is not a "real" exchange. They act as intermediaries for matching orders, and as an escrow for BTC. You can't transfer other currencies to/from Bitmarket, the transfer get done outside of Bitmarket. There is significant lag with this system, something that's not good considering current market instability. There is also a significant risk of getting scammed (even if you don't use PayPal).

Bitmarket does not accept Paypal anymore. |
