The GPU is where it's at, as far as mining is concerned, and the 5870 is the best, as far as I am concerned, although others do disagree. Build cheap machines, each with 2 5870 cards. Besides the graphics card the only other thing that is important is cooling.... maybe consider putting your machines together without a case. All my machine have cases.. Why are you in such a rush to build a rig? Better to take a little time, do the research, and build a good, cost effective rig. Or don't build one at all. Do you realize that it will take a really long time to make back that $5K and get any profit? You may not see any profit at all. Do you really want to spend $5K just for the fun of it? Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems you haven't thought this through on your own, and you should do this first. They dont crash or overheat very often and they are uber fast! Depending on the price of electricity in your area, you may very well lose money. If I were you, I'd do a lot more research. You'd likely be better off just buying some coins.
