Now, ukrainians have to chat in small thread in "other languages" and it`s very sad.

If possible, please, create in "local" new board "Укpaїнcькa (Ukrainian)"

I have a big expierence and want to moderate this local board

I do not know how this works however I have seen in another topic (I guess Turkish or some other local guys ) that they bought a lot of support under the topic. May be you can do the same.

Gather as many local members as you can to vouch for it. Hopefully it will work. Good luck guys.

In my opinion, this is a good idea, because Ukrainian is not less important than Polish or Turkish languages!

Well, it would be great. Yes, most of us understand russian language, but ukrainian is native for us. And a lot of forum users are from Ukraine.

Why not? Ukrainian community on this forum is really big. It deserves for own local board.

Thank you Solomiya for the creation of this thread.
It's been already 1 thread before - no response and in Ukrainian local thread this question is most popular.
Also many people including myself messaged moderators - no response.
But we are active part of Bitcointalk and you can check the amount of traffic coming from Ukraine.
Also Ukraine is very developed both in terms of crypto-community and crypto startups with Ukrainians as founders.

My opinion might not matter for you, but you definitely need to count opinion of Don Tapscott, author of bestseller ‘Blockchain Revolution’

Why do Ukrainians have their own board, they can communicate in a Russian board. I'm Ukrainian, but I do not even have a Ukrainian keyboard, because most of my friends communicate in Russian

You should have included a poll on your thread in order for theymos to see if Ukrainians really want their own board or not. After creating a Poll you can asked your fellow Ukrainians to vote, the more the better, and I think some of you are currently hanging in the Russian local board. Although I don't know how this process works or how long this will take. Our local board (Philippines) has been asking for a Local Market and a Beginners' Help as a Childboard (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1348035.320), but there are no new updates about it.

i fully support this inquiry as ukrainian. i am forced to use english board since all-in-one ukrainian thread is not suitable for communication or following some subject. It doesnt help create environment for discussions and innovations inside our community.

I also want the Ukrainian local board, indeed Ukrainians are very crypto-educated, it would be cool to have on this forum our own community and know fellow countrymen.

Why do Ukrainians have their own board, they can communicate in a Russian board. I'm Ukrainian, but I do not even have a Ukrainian keyboard, because most of my friends communicate in Russian

Most of my freands communicate in Ukrainian, that’s why I would like to have Ukrainian local board.

To tell the truth I do not think that only Ukrainians would wote, because of the currently situation on our borders.

I think may be it's better to leave as it is, as this topic is called "Ukrainian local board" so it's more understandable for new visitors of the topic.
Or just in case may be that second topic can be locked

Because most of Ukrainians speak Ukrainian and prefer communication in Ukrainian.
Some of Ukrainians don't know Russian at all, mostly people from diaspora and that's not a small number (Canada, US, Brasil, Australia, other countries).
And I know Ukrainians who speak Russian but prefer to use Ukrainian in written communication.
So many reasons, I've only listed some of them.

Why do Ukrainians have their own board, they can communicate in a Russian board.
If we will write in Ukrainian inside Russian sub-forum, than these topics will be absolutely unclear for people from Russian sub-forum.

Now stay on topic people (and better to write normally).

I think there are many Ukrainians for whom it is difficult to communicate and even more to write in Russian, since they did not study it at school.

And who knows the precedents, how many votes or posts are needed in the topic so that the moderators will notice and put our initiative into reality?

Title: Re: Ukrainian local board
Post by: Kriptosavant on June 06, 2018, 04:47:46 PM
A significant part of Ukrainians are forced to communicate in russian-language topics. Perhaps because of this, an illusion is created of the scale of the russian-language forum and the insignificance of the ukrainian-speaking forum. Ukraine is the largest country in Europe. The population of Ukraine is about one third of the population of Russia. The absence of Ukrainian local board at the forum is unfair.

this map of ukraine is incorrect, eastern ukraine is russian, and krim island is also legally russia.

InvoKing,
as a Legendary member (who supports this topic) may be you can tell us, why there is not decision?
Because it really looks that either forum administration has not time (which is hard to believe as this is the question of forum development) or it is politically biased (It would be very sad in this case)

How to move this topic further?

You (Ukrainians) need to convince staff members and theymos essentially that you deserve a new local board, by being active in your local topic in other languages/locations (not spamming+++), by making good quality posts and preferably by having at least 1 good member that has the potential/requirements to become a local mod.
It will take too much time but you have to wait and keep being active in order to have what you are looking for. Good luck.
(For my rank it hasn't any advantages imo for staff members)

Recently I was reading that Ukraine is on the first place about the interest to crypto. But I think that the forum's heads use to not make a difference between such ex USSR republics as Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, thinking like 'they all speak Russian there' or something like that. I support your need in own board, just like I would like to we have Serbian local board on the forum.

Given the current relationship between the countries of the former USSR, it is not logical to force Ukrainians to use the Russian local board on the forum. And not honestly too - Ukraine is by no means the smallest country, and we have a decent number of people to qualify for the Ukrainian local board on the forum. Communicate in their native language, or in a more convenient language, is much nicer and easier.

It would be a lot easier for local communities to have a list of demands in this case (I mean, to know what exactly is needed, to open a local board). Like, number of users, that vote for this, several candidates for moderators etc. But for now we can only hope for luck or to bring an attention of forum`s "elders" to this matter. Because we can endlessly write here about pros and cons but what`s the point, if the right people won`t read it?

I do not want to fight, but on the map Krimea is still the part of Ukraine, I thought its Russian :P
Ukraine is big country in Europe and crypto developing fast there as I heard from crypto news, that means that the interest and demand is high, so I support the idea of private local board for this language.

In September only in Kyiv (capital of Ukraine) there will be 4 big blockchain conferences
(i.e. this one cryptotexty.io/blockchainua-is-coming/)

Not many other countries host so many conferences and have such big blockchain community
That's why we need separate local board.
