Title: Bitcoin blockchain size on mini-blockchain scheme
Post by: jeansymolanza on June 01, 2018, 01:16:53 AM
At the time of writing (Friday 31 May), according to BitInfoCharts (https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/), the current size of the Bitcoin blockchain is 199.48 GB.

If Bitcoin were to "theoretically" adopt the mini-blockchain scheme (http://cryptonite.info/wiki/index.php?title=Mini-blockchain_scheme), and as a result, trim all of the "bloat" on the blockchain, what would the size of the Bitcoin blockchain be today?

The easiest way would be get total number of UTXO and multiply it with average UTXO size. But this is naive calculation, can't be used as accurate info and have security problems.

This website give you rough number of Bitcoin blockchain size if we use "mini-blockchain scheme" : https://statoshi.info/dashboard/db/unspent-transaction-output-set (https://statoshi.info/dashboard/db/unspent-transaction-output-set)

Thanks for the reply. I read that as 2.7gb? Is that correct?
