Title: Hello post
Post by: ramoose on January 30, 2014, 04:30:47 AM
Hi everyone!

I've lurked around for a while and have decided to finally create an account as I intend on becoming more active in the crypto scene, particularly regarding NOBLE.

I own an Internet Cafe in Australia. I first learned about bitcoin from a crypto nut friend of mine back in mid 2012. He advised me that my graphics cards (5770s at that time) were just about the most efficient power/hash rate units available. I gave it a go, set up guiminer and mined about 1.8btc in a few weeks. At that time a BTC was worth about $5, so I stopped because I couldn't justify the increased power bill.

Fast forward to November 2013 when the price of BTC starts steadily climbing on the back of the China demand. Man I wish I had kept mining! Never mind, I dug up my old wallet, dusted off guiminer and connected to slush's pool again, only to quickly realize that I was never going to make any coin in this new world of FPGAs and ASICs.

Still, there was no way I was going to miss the boat again, especially as it was still early enough that I could be a somewhat-early-adopter. The next logical move for me was to look at these new-fangled altcoins. I quickly discovered Middlecoin, and chilled there for a few weeks while I learned more about the altcoin scene. Now I am confident enough in my knowledge to manually mine profitable coins and trade them on Cryptsy, so that is what I have been doing since late December.

I'm really excited by NOBLE, particularly by the marketplace (where I intend to establish myself as a merchant) and the commitment shown by the dev team to ensuring the coin has staying power.

Did you keep the 1.8BTC you mined? If you did, I guess that's a nice little investment.

Yes i did keep the 1.8BTC, so pretty happy about that.

When the price went back up there I had quite a scramble digging through old hard drives to find the one with my wallet.dat! I thought I had formatted it for a while  ::)
