Title: New pools for mining Solcoin (SOL).
Post by: minecrew on January 30, 2014, 11:23:14 AM
Hello everybody.

Will there ever be some mining pools for Solcoin (SOL). It seems like there is one pool exists for this coin - http://sol.updamoon.com (http://sol.updamoon.com). It would be wonderful if somebody launch some new pools. Any suggestions? :)

If I can find the time I'll try and get a p2pool or MPOS pool up over the weekend or early next week.  :)

just ask some existing pool operators. they would be glad to have it run, but most likely they would ask for bounties.

The only bounty we have left is one block (1772 SOL), but we might start mining up some to hand out as future rewards. We decided not to premine bounties in order to keep the difficulty low for the starting miners, and to avoid looking like we were grabbing handsful of our own currency. In hindsight it could have been a better choice if we had mined some to hand out, but the genesis block is almost 9000 blocks behind us now so no point in being wise after the fact :)

Ideally we'd like to see someone run a p2pool, and we still have plans to run a p2pool of our own, but spare time is minimal right now and with the currently low network hashrate our development time will be better put to use on something different. Perhaps the guys at p2pool.org would be interested in helping out.
